Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, (toplumsal) cinsiyetçi bedenlerin bedensel ve beden-ötesi cisimci kavramlaştırılma bağlamında Angela Carter'ın The Passion of New Eve ile Jeanette Winterson'ın The Stone Gods adlı romanları incelemektir. Bu romanlar, çevreyle bağlantılı olarak cinsiyetçi bedenlerin maddeselliğinin önemini yansıtmaktadır. Bu bağlamda, başlangıçta, bedensellik ve beden-ötesi cisimcilik kavramları çalışılacak romanlar için bir çerçeve oluşturması amacıyla açıklanacaktır.Çalışmanın giriş bölümünde bedensel feministlerin bedenlere yaklaşımları toplumsal cinsiyet edimselliği ile birlikte incelenmektedir. Daha sonra, bedenin nasıl beden- ötesi bir yöne evrildiği tartışılmaktadır. Yeni maddeci ve maddesel feministler, bedenin nasıl maddeleştiğini ve bedenin fiziksel çevrelerden ve insan olmayan ?şeyler?den bağımsız olmadığı fikrini açıklamaktadır.Birinci bölüm, Angela Carter'ın The Passion of New Eve romanındaki bedenlerin nasıl oluşturulduğunu ve bu bedenlerin cinsiyet edimselliği ile nasıl cinsiyetçi hale geldiğini incelemektedir. Bu eser, toplumsal cinsiyetin ve bedenin sosyokültürel bir yapı olduğunu vurgulayarak bedenin diğer söylemsel güçlerden ayrı düşünülemeyeceğini ileri sürmektedir.Tezin ikinci bölümü ise, 21. yüzyıldaki biyoteknolojiler, biyogenetik ve bilgi teknolojileri sayesinde bedenin artık tutarlı, sabit ve pasif bir ontolojiye sahip olmadığı, aksine insan ve insan olmayan diğer bedenlerle içten-etkiyen bir küme olduğunu tartışmaktadır. Bu nedenle, beden, siborg, toksik ve göçer olmaktadır. Yeni maddeci feministler, bedenlerin, eyleyici gerçekçiliğin posthümanist edimselliği sayesinde posthüman ve beden-ötesi cisim olarak nasıl oluştuğunu ve bedenin madde olarak canlı, eyleyici, içten-etkin, ilişkisel, aktif ve eyleyen olduğunu incelemektedirler. Jeanette Winterson'ın The Stone Gods romanı, bu bağlamda, analiz edilecektir.Çalışmada bu romanların bedensel sınırların aşındığı ve belirsizleştiğini ve insan bedeninin fiziksel çevreye bağlı olarak akıcı, çok türlü ve çoğulcu olduğunu ileri sürdükleri sonucuna varılmaktadır.

The aim of this study is to examine Angela Carter?s The Passion of New Eve and Jeanette Winterson?s The Stone Gods with respect to corporeal and trans-corporeal conceptualizations of the gendered bodies. These novels reflect the importance of the materiality of gendered bodies in relation to the environment. In this regard, at the beginning, the concepts of corporeality and trans-corporeality will be introduced to create a framework for the novels to be studied.In the introduction of the work, corporeal feminists? approaches to bodies are scrutinized with regard to gender performativity. Then, how corporeality evolves into trans-corporeal situation is discussed. New materialist and material feminists explicate how corporeality is materialized and the idea that corporeality is not at all independent from nonhuman ?things? and the physical environments.The first chapter delves into how bodies are constituted and how these bodies are gendered through gender performativity in Angela Carter?s The Passion of New Eve. This work of literature propounds the view that the body is inseparable from other discursive forces by highlighting the fact that the body is a sociocultural artefact.The second chapter of the thesis contends that by means of biotechnologies, biogenetics and information technologies in the twenty-first century, corporeality does not any longer have a coherent, fixed and passive ontology, but rather it is an assemblage intra-acting with other human and nonhuman bodies. Thus, corporeality becomes cyborg, toxic, and nomad. New materialist feminists examine how bodies are produced as posthuman and trans-corporeal by virtue of posthumanist performativity of agential realism and that corporeality as a matter is vibrant, agential, intra-active, relational, active and actant. On this view, Jeanette Winterson?s The Stone Gods will be analyzed.In the conclusion of this work, it is stated that these novels suggest that bodily boundaries are eroded and blurred, and human corporeality becomes fluid, heterogeneous and pluralistic in relation to the physical environment.
