Özet
Aristoteles'ten itibaren zaman, hareketlerin sayısı olarak görülmüş ve Augustinus ise zamanı ruhsal bir süreç olarak tanımlamıştır. 19. yy.da özneye bağlı zaman kuramları geliştirilmiştir. Heidegger de kendi özne kuramına bağlı olarak zaman anlayışı geliştirmiş ve zamanın çizgisel bir doğrultuda ilerlemediğini savunmuştur.Levinas ise Batı felsefesinde zaman kuramlarının yanlış bir özne kuramına bağlı olarak geliştirildiğini ve bu nedenle de yanlış olduğunu söylemiştir. Levinas'a göre Batı felsefesi Başka'yı Aynı'da asimile etmiş ve bu nedenle özneyi yok etmiştir. Böyle bir durumda zaman olamaz. Zaman, Başka'nın ve öznenin varlığını koruduğu bir düzlem de özne ile Başka arasında kurulmuş olan ilişkidir.

From Aristotle time was seen as number of movement and Augustine described time as spiritual process. In the 19th century time theories- related subject was developed. Heidegger also developed a time theory based on their subject theory and he argued that time doesn?t advance in a linear direction.Levinas said that in Western philosophy theories of time were based on an incorrect theory of the subject and therefore these theories were wrong. According to Levinas, western philosophy has assimilated the Other into the Same and eliminated the subject. In such a plane time can not exist. So time is a relationship between subject and the Other on the plane in which the Other and subject continue existence.
