Özet
E özel bir infeksiyon hastalığı olarak tanımlanan diş çürüğü diş üzerindeki özel bakteriler ve yiyeceklerle alman karbonhidrat ların karşılıklı ilişkisi sonucunda ağızdaki biyolojik dengenin bozulması ile meydana gelmektedir. Çürük oluşumunda etkin rol oynayan streptokok türünün S.mu- tans olduğu bilinmektedir. S. mut an s ' m ağızdan uzaklaştırılması için de çeşitli yöntemler uygulanmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı % 0.05 ' lik NaF gargarasının özellikle S. mutans sayısı üzerindeki etkilerini inceleyip, çürük oluşturma riski düzeyi altına indirip indermediğini saptamaktır. Bu araştırmada 9-10 yaşlarında çürük dişi olmayan 64 öğren ci ile yine aynı yaşlarda ve çürük dişi olan 65 öğrencinin tük- rüklerindeki streptokokların sayıları ve tiplere göre dağılımı ile iki ay süren % 0.05 lik NaF gargarası uygulamasının strepto kok sayıları üzerinde yaptığı değişiklikler incelenmiştir. Her iki grubun tükrüklerinde S. mutans, sayı ve oran ola rak diğer tiplerden fazla bulunmuş ve iki ay süre ile % 0.05 lik NaF gargarası uygulandıktan sonra streptokokların sayı ve dağı lımlarında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir düşme gözlenmiştir. S. mutans sayılarının çürük durumu ile uyum gösterdiği de ista tistiksel olarak saptanmıştır. Araştırma bulgularımız literatür bulguları ile tartışıl mış ve sonuçlar maddeler halinde sıralanmıştır. -47-

SUMMARY Caries which is defined as a spesific infection disease is formed by breaking the biologic balance of the mouth due to mutual relationship of the spesific. bacteria which are acumulated on the tooth surface and the carbonhydrates taken in. It is known that the most effective kind of streptococcus which plays a role in forming caries is streptococcus mutans. In order to; take S. ' mutans away from the mouth, a few methods are used. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of the mouthrinse which contains 0.05 % NaF on the number of S. mutans^. and to determine whether it decreases the caries risk or not. In this investigation, the number of S. mutans in speci mens of caries-free 64 students in 9-10 year-old and caries-active 65 students in the same age were examined. Also, the number of S. mutans was determined. In this study, the number of S. mutans and their prevalance according to the types and the alterations in which the application of 0.05 % NaF solution is effective on the number of S. mutans in two-month period were examined. It was found that S. mutans was more than the other types from the point of view of number and ratio. After using the mouth- rinse which contains 0.05 % NaF, there was statistically signi ficant decrease in the number and prevalance of streptococci. Also, it was statistically determined that the number of S. mutans was parallel to caries existance. Our results were compared with the other studies and listed in order. -48-
