in--, «._< SUMMARY The efficacy of intraperitoneal chemotherapy (IPC) by 5- FU in 39 adult cases of 21 gastric. 14 colo-rectal carcinoma and 4 of them unknown origin peritoneal kars.inomatoz was com i pared with- the efficacy of combined systemic chemotherapy in 35 similar cases of gastric and colo-rectal carcinoma, which formed the control group. A 1000 rng 5-FU in a liter of Ringer lactate solution was infused in the periteneal cavity through the specific of Implantofix in every 24 hours, as: in the cycles of 5 consequent days. The cycles were repeated in 20 day intervals at least for 3-10 times for each patient or until time end of the life in the Stage 4 patients. The loco-regional recurrences and the metastasis to the liver were inhibited by IPC significanty (p<0.05) in the Stage 3 gastric cancers, both of the IPC and systemic therapy were observed to be inefficient in the. Stage 4 gastric cancers, in concerning the survive.74 Whereas, the tumor recurrence and the hepatic metastasis were have been inhibited in the cases of colo-rectal cancers with Dukes C. On the other hand it was observed that, in the patients with colo-rectal cancers in Dukes D. there were no an differences between the study and control groups» concerning the survive: but the liver metastasis could be inhibited by the IPC.
