SUMMARY Destroyed by a rapidly growing population and technological development, natural and artificial balance has revealed the present prototype boring city residences stand ing for their designer's attitude and designed for the very ecomoical cares that do not presuade to live together with various echologic questions. Since man as a part of phsical and social medium has been spending his intelligence and phsical power on behalf of humanity, his functional pacularities should be at the disposal of reproducing in order to answer his social and psycological troughout his life style, desire and expectation in urban spaces. And, this is possible with a new conclusion in urban spaces harmonized with its either means being consisted and its aesthetic worrry or its users and culture. The planning capability in such city residences that are ignored for today, being fur ther apt to their aims according to their users and their desirous will be possibly be formed by this method we are trying to put forward. Here in the range of the study, by starting from the interaction of humankind and environment, thre prosblems arisen in urban spaces, have been studied in a certain order, and aise, starting with the works which were carried out in this frame a model is recommended to make clear the design criterions of also the out of settlement areas as a sample, determining the design principles of the urban spaces and also be supported by the law. In the introduction section of the staudy of which comprises with three section, dewelled upon the place and importance of the subject study in connection with urban spaces of today, the object aod target is determined, by explaining the concept of the research, the method strategies and tactics are determined. In the introduction chapter; it is necessitated to bring about psycological approach to basic theories in connection with the methodology brought by the human environ ment interaction and dwelled upon the perception - know - evaluation period, urban image and identity privacy and subsequently territorial behaviour and social interac- VHtion fields have been studied. In the First Chapter, the visual affect that we have aimed of the physical elements to shape up the urban spaces and the feelings related to it, re - enterpreted defining of the perception of urban space which is determined through urban space and its ele ments by making use of the previous s tudies available. In the research concept of urban spaces, it was tried to clarify the shape, colour, structure criterion and ratio that most interested by the designers in terms of emotional interaction in the frame of Gestalst feeling principles. In the Second Chapter of which application of theorical study fut forward in previous section, a sampling has been realized in the Atakcy Section 9-10 of which is the upto date sample for the residential field in the urban spaces, In general, in the frame of this approach presented new dimensions to the design principles for the urban spaces, by preparing data to the future designs by evaluating the results of the in quiries. It is proven that it can be made new arrangements in the frame of these data in the field of application. In the third Chapter, by evaluating this matter, it is presented the model recommen dation to enable a rational solution through the method of the definition of its design principles and criterions in terms of socio psychologic basis. At the conclusion, it was determined necessary approach and solution recommenda tions in the frame of the model. VIII
