“Traditional Theatre Elements in the Flays of Oktay Arayıcı”(Postgraduate Jhesis) The determination of what“the traditional Turkish theatre”is and What it includes has been stated in the preliminaries. Pointing out that there are four theatre tradition in Anadolia, it has been emphasized that, of these traditions“Public theatre tradition”and“Peasant theatre tradition”are peculiar to us. It has also been poin ted out that both of these theatre traditions have, depending and feeding on our cultural structure, stemed from the Eastern Black Sea Culture and established“the traditional Turkish theatre”In the first and second parts, in the cotext of“traditional theatre elements”,“Karagöz”,“Popular theatre”, and“Panegyrist”and“Village Entertainment Plays”of“Peasant theatre tradition”have been examined under öve headings namely the main point, form, environment place of play, performer and spectators. Dividing these headings into subheadings, it has been attemp ted determining of what the traditional theatre includes, how it was established, what it is equipped with and through which met hod it is conveyed to the spectator. In the third part, Oktay Arayıcı's plays named'The Social Ana tomy of a death“, ”Sign : Rosebud“ and ”The Vain World of Ramazan Bey, the voyager“ have been disaussed through the determined ele ments. How these elements are used in the contemporary main point has been given. In the final part, it has been concluded that ”the traditional Turkish theatre“, Which has completed its period, has a new con temporary meaning for the spectator on the way leading to the ”universal“ from the ”national“ as well as being a big pace in estab lishing the ”national theatre" through usage of artistic and esthetic elements which are also functional for cantemporary modern theatre.
