Özet (Çeviri)

14th century is the very important period for the world history. Because, in the period, Seljuks who has played very significant role in the world political history had declined by replacing itself Ottoman State, and Byzantium has entered to its last period. Byzantium is of very important role for the Turkish history, especially for the Ottoman State. Byzantium left very rich sources due to its developed historiography relating Turks who have entered relationship with Byzantium since 4th century. Although many works were created in the Seljukids period, we unfortunately have a few of them. Ottoman historiography developed much later (in Murad IPs period). During the foundation time, the Ottoman historiography has just begun to develop. Therefore, works written in this period are scarce and unable to give sufficient information to us. That's why Byzantium's sources are of great importance. The more examination of these sources, the more information we get for the Ottoman foundation. The texts of Gregory Palamas are one of the important documents that demonstrate the social relationship between the two different societies in religion, race and culture during the foundation of the Ottoman State. These texts indicate that Ottoman State had a great tolerance toward the non- Muslim communities and constituted a cultural mosaic in Anatolia by preserving their own culture in the lands where she ruled. The most important peculiarity of104 these texts is to point out that the two communities had especially sought for an agreement in their religious controversy, even though they had different religions. Moreover, the texts also prove that in her last period, Byzantine Empire has become less efficient over the Anatolian Christian community in religion and the religious controversy reached the zenith in Constantinople. It is also possible to find out some information about Orhan Gazi" s private life, the conquest of Gallipoli, economic situation of cities and people, under the sovereignty of the Ottoman State. Gregory Palamas came to the cross-roads of the worlds. He saw the forces of history at work, but it is questionable whether he had the historical insight to grasp the significant of what was happening.
