Özet
Bu çalışma ile ortaöğretim coğrafya derslerinin çevre bilinci oluşturmadaki rolünün öğrenci görüşlerine göre incelenmesi ve coğrafya programının çevre ile ilgili kazanımlarının değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin coğrafya dersinin çevre bilinci oluşturmadaki rolüne ilişkin görüşleri incelenmiş, öğrencilerin öğrenim gördükleri okul türü, öğrenim gördükleri alan ve cinsiyet değişkenlerine göre görüş farklılıkları ortaya konulmuştur.Araştırmanın örneklemini 2009-2010 eğitim-öğretim yılında Aydın il merkezinde faklı türlerdeki 14 lisede ve farklı alanlarda öğrenim görmekte olan 655 ortaöğretim 12. sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Öğrenci görüşlerini tespit etmek amacıyla araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen 55 soruluk bir anket kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler bilgisayar ortamında SPSS 13 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Gruplar arasındaki farklılıkların ortaya konulmasında parametrik olmayan istatistik yöntemlerinden Kruskal Wallis ve Mann Whitney U testleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada anlamlılık düzeyi 0,05 kabul edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre öğrenci görüşlerinde, öğrenim görülen okul türü, öğrenim görülen alan ve cinsiyet değişkenlerine göre istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin coğrafya dersini görme süreleri ile çevre bilgileri, çevreye yönelik olumlu tutumları ve coğrafya dersinin çevre bilinci oluşturmadaki rolüne ilişkin olumlu görüşleri arasında paralellik olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Öğrenci görüşlerinden yola çıkarak coğrafya dersinin çevre bilinci oluşturmada önemli bir rolü olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.

With this study, being researched of the role of the secondary education geography lessons in building up the awareness of the environment according to the view of the students and being evaluated of the attainments of the geography program regarding to environment are aimed. The participant students? views regarding to the role of the geography lesson in building up the awareness of the environment were examined, the students? diversity of view according to variables of the school types, the field and the gender was presented.655 secondary education 12th class students taking education in the year of education in 2009-2010, in 14 different kinds of high schools in Aydın city center and in different fields constitute the sample of the research. The survey of 55 questions developed by the researcher for the purpose of determining the students? views was used. The data which were obtained were analyzed using the program of SPSS 13 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) in computer. Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U tests from non-parametric statistic methods were used in the presenting of the differences between the groups. Meaningfulness level was assumed as 0,05 in the research. According to the findings which were obtained, statistically meaningful differences were determined according to the school types and fields and gender, in the students? views. It was ascertained that there is an analogy between the students? positive views regarding to their time they are in the geography lesson and their environment knowledge, their positive attitudes towards environment and the role of the geography lesson in building up the awareness of the environment. It was come to the conclusion starting from the views of the students that there is a significant role of the geography lesson in the awareness of the environment.
