Özet
Bu çalışma Sosyal Bilgiler derslerinde yerel tarih konularını uygulamanın önemini belirtmek ve Yozgat ilindeki ilköğretim okulları ikinci kademede görev yapan Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmenlerinin yerel tarih öğretimini kullanma durumları ve yerel tarih öğretiminin kullanılmasında karşılaşılan problemleri incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.Yapılan kaynak incelemesi ve literatür taraması ile sosyal bilgiler dersi ve amaçları, tarih öğretimi, yerel tarih, yerel tarihin gelişimi, kaynakları, faydaları, okul dışı yerel tarih öğretimi, yerel tarih öğretiminde fotoğraf, resim vb. kaynakların kullanımı, yerel tarih öğretiminde zaman şeritleri ve yerel tarih öğretiminde uyulması gereken ilkeler belirtilmiş ve yerel tarihin önemli olup, Sosyal Bilgiler derslerinde uygulanması gerektiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmenlerinin yerel tarih öğretimi ile ilgili görüşlerini belirlemek ve yerel tarih öğretimini kullanıp kullanmadıklarını tespit etmek amacıyla katılımcılara 28 sorudan oluşan bir anket uygulanmıştır. Araştırmaya Yozgat ili merkez okullarında ve merkeze bağlı köylerde ayrıca ilçeler ve ilçelere bağlı köy ilköğretim okullarında görev yapan 132 Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmeni katılmıştır.Elde edilen veriler SPSS 11.5 paket programı ile kodlanmış ve analiz edilmiştir. Analizler sonucunda Sosyal Bilgiler öğretmenlerinin, kendilerini mesleki açıdan yeterli gördükleri fakat görev yaptıkları çevrenin yerel tarihi hakkında yeterli bilgiye sahip olmadıkları, Sosyal Bilgiler yeni müfredat programlarını yerel tarih öğretimi açısından yeterli görmedikleri, yerel tarih ile ilgili görüşlere katıldıkları, yerel tarihi Sosyal Bilgiler derslerinde tam olarak uygulamadıkları ve uygulamaya çalışırken bazı problemlerle karşılaştıkları sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır. Yapılan literatür taramasında İlköğretim Sosyal Bilgiler derslerinde yerel tarih öğretiminin kullanılma durumu ile ilgili bir araştırmaya rastlanmamıştır. Bu açıdan araştırmanın ilgili literatüre önemli katkısı olacağı düşünülmektedir.

This study emphasizes the importance of practicing local history topics in Social Studies lessons and the current use of local history teaching by Social Studies teachers, who are working at secondary level of primary schools in Yozgat. With this research, it is also aimed to explore the problems related to the local history teaching in Turkey.After researching the materials that could be related to Social studies teaching and reviewing the relevant literature, the lessons and the aims of Social Studies class, teaching history, teaching local history out of school environment, improving local history teaching, the sources and the benefits of local history teaching, the application of visual aids to teaching local history and the time band in local history teaching are summarized. As a result, the ground rules that need to be followed in incorporating the local history to Social Studies classes are provided and finally, the importance of incorporating the local history to the Social Studies classes is once again emphasized with this study.A 28 item questionnaire is applied in order to explore whether the teachers incorporate the local history to the social studies curriculum or not. The sample of the study is 132 Social Studies teachers who are working in Yozgat and its districts.The data is analyzed through SPSS 11.5. Through the analyses, it is found that the Social Studies teachers considered themselves occupationally sufficient, however, they do not have enough knowledge about their districts? local history, and they found the new curriculum insufficient supplying the materials regarding the local history. Although they cannot incorporate to the lessons, they found to be firm believers of the importance of local history in teaching Social Studies and they also reported some problems that they encountered in incorporating the local history to the Social Studies classes. To the best of my knowledge, in the literature, there are no studies on the topic till this research. Therefore, this study is important to fill this gap in the literature.
