Özet
?Yapısal Değişim Bağlamında Kentleşme ve Kocaeli İmalat Sanayinin Niteliği (SWOT Analizi)? başlığını taşıyan bu çalışma, Kocaeli'deki kentleşme süreci, sanayileşme ve yapısal değişimi irdelemektedir. Zamanla niteliği değişen kent olgusunu ve kentleşme sürecini, yapısal değişim, göç ve sanayileşmeye vurgu yaparak yorumlamak uygun olacaktır. Bu tespitten hareketle dünya ve Türkiye'de yapısal değişim ve özellikle de Kocaeli'nin kentleşme ve sanayileşme süreci, kalkınma ve kent olgusu açısından değerlendirilmiş; Kocaeli'de imalat sanayi yapısı ve ihracat performansı incelenmiştir.Üç bölümden oluşan bu çalışmanın ilk bölümünde, ekonomik yapı, yapısal değişim, kentleşme ve toplanma ekonomileri kavramsal ve kuramsal olarak sunulmuş; ikinci bölümde, dünya ve Türkiye deneyiminin, bu kavramlar bağlamında niteliği ve özellikleri tartışılmıştır. Üçüncü ve son bölümde, Kocaeli'nin imalat sanayi yapısı ve ihracat potansiyeli ortaya konmuştur. Kocaeli'de sektörel uzmanlaşma, katma değer, istihdam ve üretimin yapısı araştırılmış; ihracat yapısını belirleyen iç ve dış faktörler SWOT analiziyle ele alınarak, imalat sanayi üretim ve dış ticaret sorunları çeşitli yönlerden değerlendirilmiştir. Markalaşma, maliyet, tanıtım ve teşvik, nitelikli emek ve finansman sorunu, Kocaeli'nin ihracat yapısına ilişkin temel sorunlar olarak tespit edilmiş; bu sorunların aşılmasına yönelik değerlendirmelerde bulunulmuştur.

This study titled ?Urbanization of Context That Structural Change and Quality of Kocaeli Manufacturing Sector (SWOT Analysis)? analyses the processes of urbanisation, industrialisation and structural change in Kocaeli. It will be appropriate to interpret the changing composition of the city concept along time and the process of urbanization with the emphasis on structural change, immigration and induztrialization. Starting off from this perspective, this study explores structural change in world and Turkey and especially in Kocaeli coupled with the process of industrialisation and in relation to the economic development and the fact of the city; export performance and manufacturing sector structure in Kocaeli are analysed.This study consists of three parts. In the first part economic structure, structural change, urbanization and agglomeration economies are presented within the institutional and theoretical framework; in the second part, in the context of composition and structures parameters, the experience of the world and Turkey are discussed. In the third and last part, the manufacturing sector structure and export potential of Kocaeli is introduced. In Kocaeli sectoral specialization, added value, unemployment, structure of production are searched; The problems of manufacturing sector?s production and foreign trade that based on the domestic and external factors that determine the structure of exports are evaluated with SWOT analysis. Brand problem, cost problem, advertising and substantiate problem, skilled labor and financing problem turn out to be the basic problems regarding the structure of Kocaeli exports; the ways to overcome these problems are discussed in the study.
