Özet
Bu tezin amacı, dbe.off-line.readings2 isimli ders kitabındaki okuma parçalarını okumabecerisinin etkili öğretimi açısından irdelemektir. Bu çalışmanın birinci bölümü, konuyubelirtmenin yanı sıra, çalışmanın öncesini, önemini ve kapsamını anlatma amacını güdüyor.İkinci bölümde ise, ilkin okumanın tanımı, nedenleri, farklı okuma becerileri ve bubecerilerin okumaya olan katkılarına değinilmekte, sonra okuma materyallerindeğerlendirilmesi ve uyarlanması gibi konular üzerinde durulmaktadır. Üçüncü bölümünodak noktasını, ODTÜ'nün hazırlık bölümündeki öğretmenlere ve öğrencilere uygulanananketin sonuçları oluşturuyor. Dördüncü bölümde, dbe.off-line.readings2'deki okumaparçaları kısaca açıklanmış, bu kitaptan alınan bir parça irdelenmiş, bu parçanınöğrencilerin ihtiyaç ve ilgilerine göre geliştirilmesiyle ilgili bazı okuma etkinlikleri tavsiyeedilmiştir. The purpose of this study is to analyze the reading passages of dbe.off-line-readings 2 interms of the effective teaching of reading skills. The aim of the first chapter is to state theproblem, the importance and scope of the study, and the background to the study. Thesecond chapter starts with a definiton of reading, reasons for reading, different types ofreading skills and their contribution to the reading process, and continues with topics suchas materials evaluation and adaptation. The third chapter focuses on the results of thequestionnaire administered to students and teachers at the Department of Basic English atMETU. The fourth chapter gives a brief explanation of the reading passages of dbe.offline.readings 2. In this chapter, a reading text from the coursebook is analyzed and asuggestion is provided for the development of this text based on the needs and interests ofthe students. In addition, some activities are suggested for the same passage.
