Özet
Tez giriş (Tarih, yöntem ve literatür incelemesi) üç ana bölüm (I. Râğıb el-İsfahânî'nin Kur'ân'ı anlama ve yorumlama yöntemi, II. Adı geçen yöntemin tatbiki, III. Tefsîr usûlündeki genel zorluklar) ve sonuçtan oluşmaktadır.Tezde Râğıb el-İsfahânî'nin hayatı, eserleri, hakkında yapılan çalışmalar ve İslâm düşüncesindeki konumu gibi genel bilgiler sunulmakla beraber, onun Kur'ân'ı anlama ve yorumlama yöntemi üzerinde yoğunlaşılmıştır. Yapılan tetkikler sonucunda Râğıb el-İsfahânî'nin özgün bir yönteme sahip olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Bu yöntem, hitap eden (Allah), hitap edilen (insan) ve hitaptan (ilâhi kelâm) oluşmaktadır. Söz konusu yöntemin açıklanması tefsir, yorumlanması ise teville ifade edilmiştir. Râğıb el-İsfahânî'nin dil temelli, rivâyet ve dirâyeti dengeli bir şekilde içeren yöntemi, fıkhî, kelâmî, tasavvufî ve felsefi boyutlara sahiptir.Râğıb, söz konusu yöntemin teorisini Camiu't-Tefâsir'in Mukaddime'sinde sunmuştur. Tefsir kısmında ise bu yöntemini başarılı bir şekilde uygulamıştır. Dördüncü yüzyılda oluşturulan bu yöntem, tefsîr-te'vil ayırımı, inşâ-ihbâr ve müfessirde bulunması gereken şartlar gibi konularda günümüzdeki Kur'ân'ı anlama ve yorumlama çalışmalarına yeni açılımlar sağlama imkânına sahiptir.

The dissertation is composed of an introduction, three main chapters and a conclusion. The introduction offers a historical, methodical and literal review. While the fist chapter investigates al-Isfahani?s method of understanding and interpreting the Qur?an, the second deals with the implementation of this method. The last chapter tackles the general difficulties with the principles of Qur?anic exegesis (usul al-tafsir).In addition to offering general information on al-Isfahani?s life, works as well as studies on him and his place in Islamic thought, this dissertation primarily focuses on the method he followed to understand and interpret the Qur?an, the originality of which the research conducted in this study points out clearly. This method consists in the following: the one who addresses (God), the addressee (human being), and the address (divine speech). The explanation of the said method is called exegesis (tafsir) and its interpretation ta?wil. Al-Isfahani?s method, which is linguistically based and balanced between traditional reports and rational explanations, is furnished with jurisprudential, theological, mystical and philosophical aspects.Al-Isfahani presents the theoretical structure of his method in the ?Muqaddima? (Introduction) of his Jami` al-Tafasir. He successfully implemented this method of his in the tafsir section. Developed in the 4th century of Hijrah, this method is capable of providing new horizons for understanding and interpreting the Qur?an in dealing with such issues as the distinctions between tafsir and ta?wil, between insha? (the constructive) and ikhbar (the informative/descriptive), and the requirements that an exegete of the Qur?an must meet.
