SUMMARY In this study, self concept of women who have children and do not want more children and Primary and Secondary Infertile women who are treated because they can't have children is compared. The study is performed on women who admitted to the Family Planning Unit of the SSK Ankara Maternity Hospital for birth control and women who are treated in the Infertility Clinics of the same hospittal. For the measurament of the self concept of the women abuot themselves the Offer Self-image Inventory which is translated and adapted to Turkish culture by înanç (1987) is used after adaptation to the study group. In comparison of the points of the Primary and Secondary Infertile women and women who do not want children which they got from this test Unidirectional Variance Analysis Technique is used. T test is applied to determine the difference between which groups the source of this difference is when the F value is found significant. As a result of the analysis, difference is found between the“Impulse Control'*, ”Emotional Tone“ and ”Psychopathology" subscales 61Infertile women and women who do not want children and it is seen that, women who do not want children have better self concept. The studies about self concept have shown that not being able to have child effects the self concept negatively. But in this study, it is seen that the women who have children got better self concept in only three subscales and in other subscales there is no difference between the self concept of women who have and who do not have children. But together whit this, the result show that there's significant relation between having child and self concept. 62
