Özet
ÖZET Ülkemizin tarihsel ve aletsel dönem depremlerini içeren katalogların derlenmelerinin 1981 yılında bitirilmiş olması, bu dönemlerin deprem etkinlik özelliklerinin yeniden gözden geçirilmesini ve birtakım yeni belirlemelerin yapılmasını ge rektirmiştir. Böyle bir gereksinmeyle, Kuzey Anadolu Fay Zonu (KAFZ) ve çevresini içine alan geniş bir bölge seçilerek önce, ta - rihsel dönem deprem verileri, 2500 yıllık bir geçmişi yansı tacak şekilde derlenmiştir. Bu verilere dayanarak, oluşan depremlerin zaman ve uzay dağılımları incelenmiş, tarihsel dönemde bunların bazı yörelerde kümeleştikleri, dolayısıyla, etkin yöreleri şekillendirdikleri anlaşılmıştır. Bu döneme ait veriler, gerek depremlerin oluş tarihlerinde ve gerekse etkinlik süreçleriyle etkinlik boşluklarında, düzenli bir devirliliğin bulunmadığını göstermiştir. Bir sonraki aşamada, KAFZ ve Çevresinin 1900-1975 ara sındaki aletsel dönem deprem verileri çıkarılmış ve bunların, magnitüdleri yönünden, tekdüze değerlere sahip olmadığı, kü çük magnitüdlü depremlerin kayıtlarında da büyük eksiklikle rin bulunduğu anlaşılmıştır. Bu nedenle, yazar tarafından bu bölge için geliştirilen bir bağıntıyla önce tüm M^ magnitüd leri Mg'ye, sonra da Alsan, Tezuçan-Bath (1975) bağıntısıyla Mg değerleri Mg'e dönüştürülerek, 1900-1975 döneminin tüm depremlerinin magnitüdleri tekdüzeleştirilmiştir. Daha son ra, magnitüdleri altı ve daha yukarı olan deprem verilerin - den yararlanarak, aletsel dönemde, büyük deprem üreten odak zonları saptanmıştır. Bir başka aşamada, hem tarihsel ve hem de aletsel dönem de etkinlik gözüken yörelerin birbirleriyle uyuşma derecele ri de araştırılmış ve bunların, büyük ölçüde, benzerlik için de oldukları görülmüştür. Bu çalışmayla elde edilen yeni bulgular, îmar ve İskân Bakanlığı Deprem Araştırma Enstitüsü1 nce 1972 yılında derlen mesi tamamlanan“Türkiye Deprem Bölgeleri Haritası”nm, bazı değişikliklere gereksinimi olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Bu ne denle, tarihsel ve aletsel dönem deprem verileri yardımıyla, inceleme bölgemizin, özellikle doğu ve batı kesimleri için, söz konusu haritaya iki değişiklik önerisi getirilmiştir.

ABSTRACT Since the compilation of earthquake catalogues for the historical and instrumental periods has been terminated in 1981, it has became an urgent neccessity that the features of seismic activity should be revised thoroughly, and some new features that may be appeared from the data should be determined. Taking into account above mentioned requirement, a large region covering the North Anatolian Fault Zone (NAFZ) is selected to review the earthquake history for the last 2500 years“ The time and space distributions of the earthquakes based on the historical earthquake catalog have been obtained and, it was seen that the epicenters of them are accumulating in certain areas pointing out the active parts of the zone. The time distributions also show that there are no any regu lar and visible periodisities of their occurrences, activity periods and dormancies for neither the defined areas nor the KAFZ when it is considered as a whole. In the next step of this work, the instrumental data being related with the investigated region are obtained for the period of 1900-1975» It has been seen that the earth - quakes occurred within the 1971-1975 period do not have unique M values. Therefore, all magnitudes have been converted to Mg using the newly developed relationship by the author from Ml to Mg and, Alsan-Tezuçan-Bath (1975) relationship to Mg from Mb- It has also been understood that there is a great deficiency in the records of small magnitude earthquakes for the interval of 1900-1970. Besides, there are a lots of re corded shocks with undetermined magnitude values which occurred within the period of 1971-1975. To search out the consistency of the active areas during the historical and instrumental periods, it has been used the data related with the earthquakes of magnitudes six and over and, seen that the source areas which produce strong shocks during the instrumental period are approxi - mately same with the formers. It is also appeared that the ”Seismic Regionalization Map of Turkey" which was compiled by the Ministry of Recon struction and Settlement in 1972, should be revised and/or renewed. Using the features of seismic activity obtained by this work, the two proposals are given especially for the east and west parts of the investigated region for the above mentioned map.
