The purpose of this research is to determine the place of the Anatolian Teacher Training High Schools in training teachers from the standpoints of their curricula, the selection and orientation of students and the charac teristics of the teachers who work in these schools. For this reason, the Anatolian Tecaher Training High Schools from their establishment up to present were investigated with the historical perspective and the present situation of these schools was tried to explain through the opinions of the teachers in above mentioned schools. This research is descriptive. The data were collected with a questionnaire included 38 items which were prepared by the researcher. The questionnare was administrated to 195 teachers who work in 10 Anatolian Teacher Training High Schools in Turkey. The data were analysed as percent- afe and frequency. The results of the research are summarized as follow: 1. The curriculum of the Teacher Training High Schools Should be prepared in accordance with the prin ciples in contemporary curriculum development approach and course syllabuses should be improved and gradually be changed.IV 2. In the process of student selection for Anatolian Teacher Training High Schools, an interview should also be made besides the multiple choice achievement test and necessary precautions should be taken in order to orien tate the students to faculties of Education. 3. Some specific criteria Should be used in the selection of the teachers for these schools and the teachers should attend to the inservice training courses in regular intervals.
