110 SUMMARY The aim of this study is to show the linkages between trade policy and domestic income distribution for a small economy which takes world prices as given. The second chapter following a brief introduction is intended to give an account of main concepts and relations to understand the fuctioning of an economy where protective structure is changed. For that purpose, the effects of an import tariff on domestic economy is analyzed with a static general equilibrium model. The third chapter aims at showing the theoretical models. Those are ; (i) Stolper and Samuelson model,(ii) and specific factors model. Also, in this chapter the effects of variable returns to scale in production, existence of dircetly unproductive profit seeking activities, and dynamic nature of the economy, on the distribution of income are examined. The fourth chapter deals with the empirical studies about the trade policy affects on the income distribution for the other countries, but Turkey. In the fifth chapter, it is intended to give a general picture of trade and industrial policy in Turkey before and after 1980. In addition, the empirical studies about Turkey showing the effects of trade policy, directly and indirectly, on income distribution is examined. In this chapter, an attempt is made to construct a computable general equilibrium model with interindustry flows. In the last chapter, it is concluded that there are important linkages between trade policy and domestic income distribution. Therefore, attempts have to be made to construct empirical as well as theoretical models to reveal these linkages.
