ABSTRACT The“Lugat-ı Kanun-ı ilahı”is the work of auther“Abdulmajid Ibn Farishta”. This work is one of the workB of“Garib al-Qur'an”(Strangers of Qur'an) field. It was edited in the l1* th century. It consists 60 pages. It haB aproximataly 23DD Qur'anic wocabulary with their meaningB in Turkish. It is one of the first edited works its kind so it is worth of study. The information in the bibliographies on“Farishta Oğulları”of Tire/Turkey, is scanty and contradictiony. This tribe has produced two eminent scholars, they are“Abdullatif Ibn Malak”and“Abdulmajid Ibn Farishta”“Abdulmajid Ibn Farishta”is a member of a Heretic Sufi Order (Tarika) named“Hurufiyya”. He produced scholarly works (in propagation of this order). It has been asserted that the book“Lugat-ı Kanun-ı Ilahi”, which İb my thesis-subject, had been composed by this auther. Howover, the study and research on the work has proved such allefations are invalid. As some literature prowed that our auther is not Abdulmajid who bares the some with one who is a Hurufiyya order member. The only common is the similarity of their names. They are raletives but have opposite viewB. Our auther“Abdulmajid Ibn Farishta”is an eminent Turkish linguist. HİB work İb the first one in its field. It was edited in providence help to understand the Qur'an by Turkish-Bpeaking people. Its significance comes from being in Turkish language.
