Özet
Bu çalışmada, Çoklu Zeka Kuramı uygulanan bir ngilizce sınıfında öğrencilerineğitim ortamına yönelik öğrenme, öğretmen, sınıf ortamı, sosyal özkavram veakademik özkavram algıları araştırılmıştır. Bu araştırma için ngilizce'yi yabancı dilolarak öğrenen 102 ilköğretim 7. sınıf öğrencilerinden bir örneklem grubuoluşturulmuş, bu öğrencilerden 51 tanesi beş hafta süre ile ?used to, geçmiş zamandaalışkanlıkları ifade etme? konusunu Çoklu Zeka Kuramı'na dayanarak geliştirilenetkinliklerle çalışırken, diğer öğrenciler aynı konuyu daha geleneksel yöntemlerleçalışmışlardır. Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DUNDEE) anketitüm örneklem grubuna ön ve son test olmak üzere iki kez uygulamıştır. Bununyanında tüm öğrencilerden bu uygulamaya yönelik duygu ve düşüncelerini kendicümleleriyle ifade etmeleri istenmiştir. Son test sonuçlarına göre deney grubu vekontrol grubu arasında öğrenme algısı, öğretmen algısı, sınıf ortamı algısı ve sosyalözkavram algısı açısından önemli bir farklılık bulunmamıştır. Fakat deney grubununson test sonucu, deney grubundaki öğrencilerin akademik özkavram algısında önemlibir artış olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Öğrencilerin kendi ifadeleriyle vermiş olduklarıdönütler eğitim ortamı algılarına ilişkin olarak analiz edilmiştir. Bu dönütlerdendeney grubundaki öğrencilerin uygulamaya yönelik olumlu tutumlar geliştirdiklerisonucuna varılmıştır. Bu sonuçlar, Çoklu Zeka Kuramı'na dayanan bir yaklaşımın,öğrencilerin kendilerini ngilizce öğrenirken akademik anlamda daha başarılıalgılamalarına yol açabileceğini göstermektedir.ANAHTAR SÖZCÜKLERÇoklu Zeka, ngilizce öğretimi, eğitim ortamı, algı, akademik özkavram.

This study aimed to find out students? perceptions of educational environment inrelation to students? perceptions of learning, teacher, classroom environment, socialself-concept, and academic self-concept in an EFL classroom where MultipleIntelligences Theory is implemented. A purpose sampling group was constructed bythe participation of 102 students studying English as a foreign language in 7th grade.51 of them studied the topic ?used to , expressing past habits? through techniquesstemming from Multiple Intelligences Theory for five weeks while the others studiedthe same topic through more traditional methods. Dundee Ready EducationEnvironment Measure (DUNDEE) was administered to all participants as pre- andpost-test. All participants were also asked to reflect on and give feedback about thisexperience in exit slips through their own words. The post-test results show that thereis not a significant difference in students? perceptions of learning, teacher, classroomenvironment, and social self-concept in experiment group and control group. But thepost-test result points to a significant change in students? perceptions of academicself-concept in experiment group. Students? exit slips of both groups were analized inrelation to students? educational environment perceptions. They reveal that studentsin experiment group hold a positive attitude towards Multiple Intelligences basedtechniques in terms of their educational environment perceptions. The results suggestthat a Multiple Intelligences based approach may have encouraged students toperceive themselves academically more successful in learning English as a foreignlanguage.KEY WORDSMultiple Intelligences, ELT, educational environment, perception, academic self-concept.
