Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı öğretmen ve öğrencilerin öğrenme stillerininbirbirleriyle benzerlik göstermesi durumunda dil öğrenmede herhangi bir fark oluşupoluşmayacağını belirlemektir. Başka bir deyişle, bu çalışma, öğrenci ve öğretmeninöğrenme stilleri eşleştirildiğinde ve uygun materyaller kullanıldığında öğrencilerindaha iyi öğrenip öğrenmediklerini belirlemeye çalışmaktadır.Veriler Eskişehir Osmangazi Üniversitesi Yabancı Diller BölümündeBaşlangıç düzeyindeki 60 öğrencinin bulunduğu 3 grup ile deneysel bir çalışmayapılarak toplandı. Öğrencilerin seviyeleri ?Michigan Test? kullanılaraksaptanmıştır. Öğrenci ve öğretmenlerin öğrenme ve öğretme stillerini belirlemek içinRebecca Oxford'un (1993) hazırlamış olduğu Stil Analiz Anketi Kullanıldı. Bununyanı sıra, çalışma süresindeki başarının artışını belirlemek için de öğrencilere verilenvize sınavı ön ve son test olarak kullanıldı. Çalışma süresince kullanılacak olan dersmateryalleri öğrencilerin belirlenen öğrenme stillerine göre hazırlandı. Bu çalışmadaözellikle iki stil, görsel ve duysal, üzerine yoğunlaşıldı. Kullanılan stil anketindekisonuçlara göre öğrenci ve öğretmenlerin öğrenme stilleri eşleştirildiğinde veöğrenme stillerine uygun materyal ve yöntemlerle öğretim yapıldığında öğrencilerinbaşarısında artış olduğu ortaya çıktı.iv

Prof. Rıdvan TUNCELThis study aims to investigate whether there is a difference in languagelearning if learners and teachers? learning styles are same. In other words, this studytries to determine whether students learn better when they are taught according totheir particular learning style preferences.The data has been collected from the experimental research conducted withthe Elementary students in the Department of Foreign Languages at OsmangaziUniversity. The instruments for data collections were Style Analysis Survey, Pretestand Posttest and supplementary materials. Students? language level was determinedby Michigan Placement test. According to the placement test, there were 10 groupsof Elementary learners. The Elementary learners? learning the Style Analysis Surveydetermined styles, and students were grouped through the determined learning styles.Regarding the learning preferences of the learners 3 of the 10 Elementary levelgroups were formed and those groups were selected as the subjects of this study.iiiLearners were gathered in language classrooms into three separated groups as visuallearners and audio-visual learners and mixed learning style learners. Theinstructional materials and subsequent teaching were designed and implementedaccording to the students? learning styles. The teachers whose teaching styles werethe same with the learners were administrated with the permission of the schooladministration. The results of the posttest showed that students? learning could beenhanced through the appropriate teachers and materials to the learners? learningpreferences.iv
