iiiABSTRACTThis study aims to introduce the Theory of Multiple Intelligences proposed byDr. Howard Gardner and its implications in English lessons at state schools,especially at a Industrial Vocational High School.The study has six chapters. The first chapter presents the problem, aim andscope, the method and the assumptions of the study.Chapter 2 presents the review of literature part, which comprises the definitionof intelligence, explanation of multiple intelligences theory, classification ofintelligences, implementation of the theory in teaching in general and teachingEnglish in particular.In chapter 3, how the data are collected is stated. In addition, the analysis ofthe data collected from the students through an inventory is presented andinterpreted. Also, the interpretation of the students? thoughts aboutmultipleintelligences (MI) activities and comparison of their intelligence profiles and theiranswers to the second questionnaire are held in this section.Chapter 4 offers implemented MI activities which have been applied by theresearcher in teaching English. This chapter also contains a partial sample unit takenfrom ?An English Course For Turks- Intermediate II? with the supplementary MIactivities addressing different intelligence profiles based on this unit.Chapter 5 which is the conclusion part of this study, summarizes the study,presents implications, and makes some recommendations.
