Özet
Bu çalışmada, overektomi yapılmış sıçanlarda östrojen uygulama sının tiroid folikül hücresinde oluşturduğu strüktürel değişiklikler ışık ve elektron mikroskobu düzeyinde incelendi ve literatür bilgisi ile tartışıldı. Kontrol grubu olarak da overektomi edilmiş sıçanlar kullanıl dı. Ayrıca overektominin tiroid folikül hücresinde oluşturduğu değişik likleri kıyaslamak için intakt kontrol grubundan faydalanıldı. Overektomi yapılmış kontrol grubunun incelenmesinde folikül hüc relerinde gerek endositoz, gerekse eksositozu gösteren bulgular elde edilmiştir. Bu morfolojik bulgular folikül hücrelerinin sentez ve salgılama fonksiyonlarının devam ettiği kanısını vermiştir. Deney grubunu oluşturan, östrojenin iki ayrı dozunun uygulandığı (5/ıg ve 50xıg lık doz) overektomi yapılmış sıçanların tiroid folikül hüc relerinin incelenmesinde, overektomi kontrol grubu ile karşılaştırıldığın da hücrelerin daha ileri derecede stimülasyonuna işaret eden morfolojik bulgular (apikal vesiküllerde ve kolloid damlalarında artış, mikrovillus- ların daha uzun ve sık dağılımı, Lümende kolloidin azalması gibi) elde edildi. Bulgularımız östrojenin uygulanan dozlarının tiroid folikül epitel hücrelerinde sentez ve tiroid hormonlarını salgılama aktivitelerini stimüle ettiğini ve özellikle 50 jug lık östrojen dozu ile bu etkilenmenin daha da belirgin olduğunu göstermiştir.

-19- SUMMARY In this study, we have examined the structural features of the thyroid follicular cells by light and electron microscopy in the ovariectomized rats treated with estrogen. Obtained morphological results were discussed in the light of the literature knowledge. Ovariectomized rats treated only with the vehicle were used as the control group. Also, in order to examine the effects of ovariectomy on the structural aspects of the thyroid follicular cells, an intact control group of rats was used for comparisons. Examination of the follicular cells of the ovariectomized control rats revealed the presence of endocytosis as well as exocytosis. According to these morphological findings, it is suggested that the processes of synthesis and hormone secretion were continuing in the follicular cells of the ovariectomized rats. When the thyroid follicular cells of the experimental animals which were treated with two different doses of estrogen (doses of 5 yug and 50 xjg of estrogen) were compared with those of the ovariectomized control group, structural characteristics indicative of further cell stimulation (such as increase in apical vesicles and colloid droplets, longer and more closely arranged microvilli.depletion of colloid in the follicle lumen) were observed. Our findings gave morphological evidence to the stimulatory effects of estrogen on the synthesis and thyroid hormone secretion activities of the follicular cells and also, demonstrated that this effect was more pronaunced with the elevated dose (50 xig) of estrogen.
