Özet
Yüksek Lisans Tezi olarak hazırlanan bu çalışmada; pilot bölge olarak seçilen veAdapazarı kentinin merkezini oluşturan mahallelerin zemin yapısı, yapılan zeminetütlerinin bir bölümü incelenerek belirlenmiş ve literatürdeki zemin iyileştirmemetotlarının bu bölgelere uygulanabilirliği araştırılmıştır.Öncelikle Sakarya ili coğrafyası, Adapazarı ve yakın çevresinin jeolojik vejeomorfolojik özellikleri açıklanmış ve Akova'nın oluşumu hakkında bilgisiverilmiştir.17 Ağustos 1999 Marmara depreminden, depreme neden olduğu Kuzey AnadoluFayından ve Adapazarı'nın depremselliğinden bahsedilerek bu depremin nedenolduğu sıvılaşma ve Adapazarı sıvılaşma potansiyeline kısaca değinilmiştir.Seçilen bölgelerin TS 1500/2000 hükümlerine göre, ilk 10 metreye kadarsınıflandırılması yapılmıştır. Zemin etütlerindeki datalar yardımıyla pilot bölgelerinortalama yer altı su seviyesi ve taşıma gücü hakkında bilgi verilmiştir.Sonuç bölümünde; zemin iyileştirmeleri hakkında detaylı bilgi verildikten sonra bumetotlardan uygun olanlarının seçilen bölgelere uygulanabilirliği irdelenmiş vetartışılmıştır.

In this master?s thesis, the aim has been, by examining a number of soil evaluationstudies, to determine the texture of the ground for the chosen pilot districtsconstituting the downtown area of Adapazarı and the applicability in these areas theground improvement methods present in the literature.Within the scope of this thesis, the geological and geomorphological characteristicsof Adapazarı and its environs have been prominently explained and someinformation regarding the Akova formation has been provided.By discussing the properties of 17 August Marmara Earthquake and the NorthAnatolian Fault Line causing this earthquake, the risk of the earthquakes andliquefaction created by the same earthquake in Adapazarı and its vicinity have beenshortly examined. The common methods of ground improvement have particularlybeen investigated and the applicability of this methods in pilot areas has beenadverted.In accordance with the provisions of TS 1500/2000, the classification of the area upto the first 10 metres has been made and, with the help of data obtained from soilevaluation studies, information has been supplied concerning the average level ofunderground waters and their carriage capacity in the pilot districts.In the conclusion chapter, after having supplied detailed information with regard toground improvements, the applicability of the appropriate methods to the selecteddistricts has been investigated and discussed.
