Özet

Bu arastırmanın amacı; ilkögretim 7. sınıflarda problem tabanlı ögrenme modelinin, ögrencilerin matematik basarısına, matematik dersine karsı tutumuna ve ögrenilenlerin kalıcılıgına olan etkisini belirlemektir. Arastırma, 2006-2007 egitim-ögretim yılının ikinci yarıyılında, Kırklareli li Babaeski lçesi Sinanlı lkögretim Okulu'nda yürütülmüstür. Arastırmada, kontrol gruplu ön test-son test deney deseni ve görüsme teknigi kullanılmıstır. Arastırma, 7. sınıflarda kontrol grubunda 21 ve deney grubunda 21 olmak üzere toplam 42 ögrenci ile yapılmıstır. Kontrol grubu ögrencilerine geleneksel ögretim yöntemi kullanılarak ve deney grubu ögrencilerine problem tabanlı ögrenme yöntemi kullanılarak ders islenmistir. Arastırmanın verileri, matematik basarı testi, matematik tutum ölçegi ve yarı yapılandırılmıs görüsme formu kullanılarak elde edilmistir. Nicel verilerin analizinde yordamalı analiz kullanılmıstır. Nitel verilerin analizinde betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılmıstır. Uygulanan ölçme araçları sonucunda elde edilen veriler, SPSS-12 ortamında analiz edilmistir. Arastırmanın sonucunda, problem tabanlı ögrenme yönteminin geleneksel ögretim yöntemine göre matematik basarısının artmasında, bilgilerin kalıcılıgını saglamada ve matematik dersine karsı olumlu tutum gelistirmede etkili oldugu bulunmustur.

The aim of this study is to examine the effects of problem-based learning method on students? maths success, retention of learning and developing positive attitude at 7 th grade. The research has been conducted in Babaeski Sinanlı Primary School in Kırklareli in spring term of 2006-2007 academic year. In this research, the pre-test and post-test design with control group and interview method have been used. The research is applied with totally forty two students at 7 th grade as twenty one students in experimental group, twenty one students in control group. Traditional Teaching Technique was used on the control group, on the other hand, Problem-Based Learning method was employed on the experimental group. The research data was collected through Maths Achievement Test, Scale For Attitudes Toward Maths Course and using Semi-Structured Interview Form. In the analysis of research data, for quantitative data facility analysis method was used. In the analysis of qualitative data, descriptive analysis method was used. SPSS-12 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) was used to analyze the data. In the result of this study, it has been determined that in increasing Maths success, retention of learning and developing positive attitude towards Maths course, problem based learning is more effective than traditional learning method.
