Özet
Bu çalışma Meslek Yüksekokulu İşletme Bölümünde Matematik dersinin etkin öğrenme yaklaşımı ile işlenmesinin öğrenci başarısına etkisini incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın evrenini Türkiye genelindeki Meslek Yüksekokulu İşletme Bölümleri, örneklemini ise Kara Kuvvetleri Astsubay Meslek Yüksekokulu 1.sınıf Yönetim Bölümü öğrencileri olarak toplam 125 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Yapılan denkleştirme testi ve dönem sonu matematik notlarına göre 64 öğrenci deney grubu ve 61 öğrenci kontrol grubu olarak iki ayrı grup oluşturulmuştur. Deney grubunda etkin öğrenme yöntem ve teknikleri, kontrol grubuna ise geleneksel öğrenim yöntemleri uygulanmıştır. Öğrencilere; limit ve süreklilik konuları ile ilgili 20 soruluk bir ön test uygulanmış, etkin öğrenme etkinliklerinden sonra daha önce uygulanmış olan ön test son test olarak verilmiştir. Deney ve kontrol grubu öğrencilerine etkin öğrenme etkinliklerinden sonra; etkin öğrenme yaklaşımı ile ilgili oluşan görüşlerini belirlemek amacıyla anket uygulanmıştır. Öğrencilerin matematik başarıları ve etkin öğrenme yaklaşımı ile ilgili görüşleri SPSS 12.0 paket programında bulunan eş örneklemler ve bağımsız örneklemler t-testi kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Anketten elde edilen verilere göre yüzde, frekanslar ve ortalamalar hesaplanmış; bunlara bağlı grafikler çizilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre etkin öğrenme yaklaşımının geleneksel öğretim yönteminden daha etkili olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Ayrıca öğrencilerin büyük bir çoğunluğu etkin öğrenme yaklaşımına yönelik olumlu tutum ve davranışlar geliştirmişlerdir.

This study has been conducted to investigate the effect of teaching mathematics through active learning approach on student success at Management Departments of Vocational Schools. The population of the study is Management Departments of Vocational Schools in Turkey and 125 first-grader students from the Department of Management of Turkish Land Forces Command NCO Vocational School has constituted the sample. On the basis of the balancing test and the final mathematics results of the first semester, the students have been divided into two groups one of which forms the experimental group with 64 students and the other which the control group with 61 students. Active learning methods and techniques have been put into practice in the experimental group while traditional instructional methods have been applied in the control group. A 20-question pre-test concerning limit and continuity subjects was applied to the students after the treatment of active learning activities the same pre-test has been given to the students in the form of a post-test. After active learning activities a questionnaire has been introduced to experimental and control group students for determining their views as regards the active learning approach. The students? mathematical success and their views related to the active learning approach were examined by means of SPSS 12.00 independent-samples t-test and paired-samples t-test. According to the data obtained from the questionnaire percents, frequencies and means were calculated and graphs were drawn related to these data. According to the observed findings, the active learning approach is more effective than traditional teaching method. Moreover, the majority of the students have developed positive attitudes and behaviors towards the active learning approach.
