Özet
Bu çalısma akıllı teknolojilerin eve uygulanmasına dair bir öneri olan akıllı evkavramına sosyo-tarihsel bir perspektif sunma amacıyla yapılmıstır. Bu amacaerismek için, akıllı ev, modern mimarinin kurguladıgı bir kavram olan makina eviliskisi baglamında sorgulanarak ve teknolojinin evcillestirilmesinin sosyo-tarihi içindekökenleri aranarak incelenmistir. Akıllı ev kavramının bir sorgulamasından sonra,modern özel alanın ortaya çıkısı, özel alanın endüstrilesme etkisi altında degisimi,makina ev fikrinin ortaya çıkısı ve dogurdugu sonuçlar, endüstriyel ürünlerin evegirisi, iletisim teknolojilerinin ortaya çıkısı, gelisimi ve evcillestirilmesi konularıincelenmistir. Bu inceleme boyunca yapılan tartısmalar içinde, teknoloji ve özelalanın karsılıklı olarak birbirini yapılandıran iliskisi ortaya konmustur.Çalısma boyunca yapılan arastırma ve tartısmaların sonunda kazanılan birikim veelestirel bakıs açısı ısıgında, çalısma basında ortaya konulan arastırma sorularınacevap veren tartısmalar sunulmustur. Akıllı evin, modern özel alan, modern mimarive tasarım ve evcillestirilmis iletisim ve bilisim teknolojilerinin tarihleri içinde,kavramsal, teknik ve ideolojik yapısal köklerinin oldugu, ve akıllı evi, bir yenidenüretim alanı olarak tesis eden bu yapısal köklerin, aynı zamanda, akıllı evin,gelecegin evi olarak tasavvur edilisine zemin sagladıgı ortaya konmustur.

This study is an attempt for providing a socio-historical perspective to the smarthome concept that is a proposal for the future domestic sphere by the application ofintelligent technologies. For achieving this attempt, the smart home is investigatedwith its roots within the social history of domestic technology, by posing thequestion of a relation between the machine house idea of modern architecture andthe smart home concept as the main question of the research. After an inquiry onthe smart home concept and on the future private sphere that is envisaged within it,the emergence of modern private sphere, the transformation of private sphereunder the impacts of industrialization, the appearance and the social consequencesof the machine house idea, the introduction of mass produced appliances to thehome and the impacts of it on private sphere, the development of communicationand information technologies and their domestication processes are investigated.The co-constructive relationship of technology with the private sphere is pursuedthroughout this investigation.The research questions of the study are answered in the light of the gainedknowledge and critical perspective throughout the investigations. At the end, it isrevealed that the smart home has conceptual, technical, and ideological constructiveroots within the histories of the modern private sphere, modern architecture anddesign, and domestic communication and information technologies. It is discussedthat these roots constitute the smart home as a domain of social reproduction,which also provides the ground for its conceptualization and promotion as the futuredomestic sphere.
