12 Sü KMART The element of light is a comprehensive is a concept and it is withim us in every field and in every wallfc of life. It is a part of our lives in every field from arranging a stage to planning a city. Let's try to tre at of the function of this part on painting in short. We have seen the first real effects of light upon pa inting during the renaissance. Later on, we see that light attains to its real value withim the Age of Ba roque. Light fulfils its function in accordance with the aim of every period of time. Light faces us as a fu function atrenghtening the concept of colour in imp ressionists the fourth dimension in cubism, the ref lection of our subconsciousness upon painting in Surrealism, psychological effect on Expressionists, the third dimension influencing our eyes in op Art. This function differs one artist from another. This difference might be dependent on an artist's philo- sopy of life.
