Özet
Bu araştırma üniversitelerde hemşirelik eğitimi alan öğrencilerin sigara kullanımını ve kişilik özelliklerini saptamak amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini 253 Hemşirelik ve Sağlık Memurluğu bölümü öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak tanıtıcı bilgi formu, sigara kullanım durumunu saptamak için 'Fagerström Nikotin Bağımlılık Testi' ve 'Beş Faktörlü Kişilik Envanteri' formları uygulanmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin değerlendirilmesinde ki- kare ilişki testi, bağımsız iki grupta eşit varyanslı t testi kullanılmıştır. öğrencilerin %29,2'sinin sigara kullandığı ve Fagerström Nikotin Bağımlılık Testi puan ortalaması 3,4±2,3 olarak saptanmıştır. Bu puan öğrencilerin hafif düzeyde bağımlı olduğunu göstermektedir. Öğrencilerin cinsiyetlerine, kaldıkları yerlere ve ailede sigara içen bireylere göre sigara içme durumları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmuştur (PO.05). Öğrencilerin gelir durumlarına, basan durumlarına ve okullarının bulunduğu bölgeye göre sigara içme durumları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır (pX).05). Sigara içme durumu ile özdenetim faktörü puan ortalamaları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark saptanmıştır (P<0,05). öğrencilerin yaklaşık üçte biri sigara kullandığı için öğrencilere sigarayı bırakmaya yönelik programlar hakkında bilgi verilmesi ve sürekli tasarım yapılması önerilmektedir. Ayrıca Özdenetimi yüksek olanlarda sigara içme oranı az olduğu için eğitim programlarının gözden geçirilerek bu alanı güçlendirici bireysel gelişim programları eklenebilir.

This research has been applied for the purposes of the determination of smoking habits among the students who receive professional nursing education in the universities, and their personality traits. The subjects of the research consisted of 253 students from the School of Nursing and Health Specialists. Personal information forms were used as the tool for gathering personal data;“Fagerström Nicotine Dependence Test”and“Five-Factored Personality Inventory”were applied for the determination of the smoking habits, and the personality traits of the subjects "ki- square relation test, and t test with equal variance on two independent groups were applied during the evaluation of the research data. At the end off the research, it was determined that 29,2% of the student were habitual smokers and the Fagerström Nicotine Dependence Test average point was determined as 3,4 ± 2,3 This point indicates that the subject students were mildly dependent on cigarette smoking. Meanwhile, a significant difference was marked in statistical terms regarding the smoking habits, depending on the gender of the subject students, their domiciles, and the number individuals who smoke in their families (P<0.05). On the other hand, a significant statistical difference has not been marked regarding the smoking habits, in terms of their income levels, achievement levels and the areas where their schools are located. (PX).05). A significant difference in statistical terms was marked among the smoking habits of the subjects and the self-control fector (PO.05). Since the results of the research has shown that approximately one-third of the subject students were habitual smokers, providing of information to the students on the programs relating to the quitting of smoking and the application of continuous scans are recommended. Furthermore, since it has been determined that the level of smoking amongst individuals with high self-control is rather low, it is also recommended that the courses offered to the students are revised and that individual improvement programs focused on the development of self- control are added to the curriculum.
