ÖZET Yüksek Lisans Tezi TAULEPTONUNU İÇEREN LEPTONİK SÜREÇLER Serap ZEYREK Ankara Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Fizik Mühendisliği Anabilim Dalı Danışman : Prof. Dr. Z. Zekeriya AYDIN Bu tez çalışmasında, zayıf etkileşmeler sınıfına giren tau leptonunun leptonik bozunum süreçleri incelenmiştir.Tau leptonu bilinen en ağır lepton olduğundan, lepton ailesinin diğer iki elemanı olan müon ve elektrona da bozunabilir. Tau, nötrinosu ile birlikte üçüncü zayıf dubleti oluşturur. Bu, lepton ailesinin son elemanıdır. V% spinli ve güçlü etkileşmelere katılmayan bir parçacıktır. Birçok bozunum modu ve dolayısıyla zengin bir fenomonolojisi vardır. Taunun leptonik bozunumları yüklü zayıf etkileşmelerin yapısmı incelemekte ve yüklü leptonik zayıf etkileşmelerin evrenselliğinin araştırılmasında oldukça yararlıdır. Tau leptonunun leptonik dallanma oranlan ve yaşam süresi, yüklü akımın e-fi-r evrenselliğinin testini sağlar. Ayrıca, V-A boyunca ilerlediği deneylerle belirlenen taunun leptonik bozunum süreçlerinde, V-A yapısından herhangi bir sapma standart modelden sapmanın bir işareti olabilir. Bu tez çalışmasında deneylerle çok iyi bir uyum içerisinde olan V-A yapısının kabulü ile tau leptonunun bozunum spektrumu elde edilip bozunum oranlan hesaplanmıştır. Daha sonra spektram Michel parametreleri ile ifade edilmiştir. Son olarak, bozunum spektrumuna ışımasal düzeltmelerin etkisi incelenmiştir. 2004,67 sayfa

ABSTRACT Master Thesis THE LEPTONIC PROCESSES INVOLVING THE TAU LEPTON Serap ZEYREK Ankara University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Engineering Physics Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Z. Zekeriya AYDIN In this thesis, the leptonic decays of the tau lepton are investigated. The tau lepton can also decay into other two members of lepton family which are muon and electron. It constitutes third weak doublet with its own neutrino. It is the last member of the lepton family. It is a particle which has !4 spin and does not participate in the strong interactions. The tau lepton has a rich phenomenology since it has a lot of decay channels. The leptonic decays of the tau lepton are useful for searching of the structure of the charged weak interactions and examining the universality of the charged weak interactions. The tau lepton's leptonic branching ratios and lifetime provide a test of e- fi-T universality of the charged current. In the tau lepton's leptonic processes any deviations from the expected V-A structure would signal deviations from the Standard Model. In this thesis, assuming the structure of V-A which is in good agreement with experiment the decay rate of the tau lepton is calculated. Then the energy spectrum of the electron (or muon) is parametrized with Michel parameters. Finally, the effects of the radiative corrections to the decay spectrum are examined. 2004, 67 pages
