SUMMARY The Pscyhology of Religous Life in Mehmed Akif This study deals with the psychological analysis of Mehmed Akifs religous life and it is divided into six parts. The first part looks at the political and ideal (intellectual) currents of thought which are comman in the age of Akif. I therefore have attemted to give a glimpse the place of poetry in this life. The second part gives an information about his family, education and career. After that I have attempted to approach to this religous and moral life from different perspectives. For doing this I have examined his childhood, youth and maturity in the context of developmental psychology. Furthermore, it was explained around his religous development, distinctive characteristics of his religious and moral living. The third one discusses the view of Akif about Islamic religion and muslim, at the same time it explains his approaches to the negative aspects of Muslims and how to motivate them individually and socially. Especially I have attempted to put forward his muslim unity ideal which covers his life. ' The fourth and fifth parts deal with his moral underasting and his approach to man by view of Islamic education. On the atherhand I try to explain his valuation of religious officials. The last one covers the view of Akif about piety and pious types. Finally, I tried to put forward my own scientific criterian objectively. W. ?. i¥BkMft:f fratfa Kurulu
