181 ABSTRACT In this study, it will be focused on what Hilmi Ziya Ülken has done in the name of educational philosophy and how he interprets this science. Education, according to Hilmi Ziya Ülken, is the most significant work of what man has done so far. Thus, his approach to this field of science necessitates a study on its own. Hilmi Ziya Ülken, in his books and articles he has written about education, deals with the problems, which we even today feel the existence of and which we still cannot find solutions for, and he proposes solutions for these problems. At this point, taking Hilmi Ziya Ülken's book“Eğitim Felsefesi”as a main source, this thesis aims to elucidate the thinker's approach to the concept of education and to make a general assessment through clarifying his opinions about educational philosophy. The first of the aims of the thesis as a whole, is to put forward what the education and what the educational philosophy, which is structured through education interaction with philosophy, are and to determine the content of these concepts; and the second one is to illuminate Hilmi Ziya Ülken's opinions which he has proposed as a solution to the problems of educational philosophy.
