Özet (Çeviri)

This study deals with the problems about the act of excretion in public toilets and contains three main chapters and a conclusion. In the first chapter, the concept of sanitary wares is studied under such titles as Historical Development of Wares, Technical Details, Adaptation to Structure and Sanitary. The examples in the text are especially chosen from the sanitary products made in Turkey because the study is directed only towards the Turkish public. Second chapter is mostly devoted to the study of the“A La Turca”squatting bowls by pointing out the positive and negative aspects of the sanitary products in Turkey. In the third chapter, a new design is introduced as an alternative to the traditional squatting bowls by comparing the both and a new approach is brought to the problem. In the conclusion part the matters handled in the three chapters are reevaluated so that the targets and what has been reached so far can be stated more clearly. In the last analysis, what is emphasised is that this study stands as the first step for further researches on the same area which is so wide and needs to be considered as a social phenomenon. Ill
