Özet

ÖZET Matematik yüzyıllardır insanoğlu için ayrı bir önemi olan bir bilim dalıdır. Bu durum matematiğin bütün bilimlerin dayandığı bilim olmasından ve insanoğluna yaptığı hizmetlerden kaynaklanmaktadır. Bu yüzdendir ki bütün uluslar başta ABD ve diğer ileri ülkeler olmak üzere matematik eğitimine ve öğretimine çok önem vermektedirler. Matematik öğretiminin vazgeçilmez unsurlarından biri öğretim materyalleridir. Geliştirilen tüm modern araç-gereçlere rağmen, öğretmenler ve öğrenciler için temel öğretim materyali ders kitaplarıdır. Matematik dersi için İlköğretimde verilen eğitim çok önemlidir. Özellikle İlköğretim 7. sınıf matematik konuları bir öğrencinin matematiği tam olarak öğrenmesi ve bu derste başarılı olması için dönüm noktasıdır. Bu çalışmanın amacı; İlköğretim 7. sınıf matematik ders kitaplarının öğretmen, öğrenci ve uzman görüşleriyle değerlendirerek, kitaplar hakkında bir durum tespiti yapmak ve öğretmenlere ve bu konuda görevli uzmanlara yardımcı olabilecek bir ders kitabı değerlendirme ölçeği geliştirebilmektir. Araştırmanın evrenini Ankara ili Keçiören (merkez) ve Elmadağ (dış) ilçelerine bağlı İlköğretim okullarında görev yapan matematik öğretmenleri ve bu okullarda öğrenim gören 7. sınıf öğrencileri ile M.E.B. Talim Terbiye Kurulu Başkanlığı' nda ders kitapları hazırlama ve inceleme bölümlerinde görevli uzmanlar oluşturmaktadır. Örneklemi random yoluyla seçilen 22 İlköğretim okulundaki toplam 28 matematik öğretmeni ve 12 okuldaki toplam 287 İlköğretim 7. sınıf öğrencisi ile Talim Terbiye Kurulu Başkanlığı' nda görevli toplam 7 uzman oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma betimsel nitelikte olup, öğretmen ve öğrencilerin görüşleri ayrı ayrı hazırlanan iki farklı anket yoluyla, uzmanların görüşleri ise görüşme metoduyla alınmıştır. Öğrenci anketinin güvenirlik katsayısı alpha = 0.79 olarak bulunmuştur. Öğretmen anketinin güvenilirliği 0.74 olarak bulunmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda; öğretmenlerin görüşleri doğrultusunda; İlköğretim 7. sınıf matematik ders kitaplarında; başta“genel görünüm”ve“ölçme ve11 değerlendirme”durumları olmak üzere,“fiziksel özellikler”,“içerik”ve“öğrenme- öğretme ilkelerine uygunluk”konularında eksikler olduğu, ders kitaplarının“matematik programına uygunluğu”ve“dil ve anlatım özellikleri konularında”yeterli olduğu ancak matematik ders programının yetersiz olduğu ve değiştirilmesi gerektiği sonucu ortaya çıkmıştır. Öğrencilerin görüşleri ise yine öğretmen görüşleriyle benzeşmekte olup; ders kitaplarının“öğretmen ve öğrenciler tarafından kullanımında”,“öğrenme-öğretme ilkelerine uygunluk”ve“ölçme değerlendirme durumlarında”eksiklikler olduğu belirlenmiştir. Uzmanların görüşlerine göre ise, ders kitaplarının“Ders Kitapları Yönetmeliğine uygunluğu”,“geliştirilmesi”ve“ders programındaki yeni yaklaşımların ders kitaplarında kullanılması”konularında eksikler olduğu saptanmıştır. Uzmanların görüşlerine göre; bu eksikliklerin esas kaynağı ise matematik ders programıdır ve programının değiştirilmesi gerektiğini düşünmektedirler.

m SUMMARY Mathematics is a subject matter which has had exceptional importance for the mankind for centuries. This condition results from its being a science on which are based all the sciences and from its services to the man. That is why all the nations, USA and developed at the top, are attaching more importance to the mathematics education and instruction. One of the elements of mathematics, which is inevitable, is the instruction materials. Despite all the developed modern materials ande devices, textbooks are the basic instructional materials for teachers and students. For the Mathematics course, the education given at Primary school is very important. Especially, the mathematics subjects of the 7th class of the Primary education are the critical point for a student to completely adopt the mathematics and to be successful in this course. The aim of this study is, by evaluating the 7th class mathematics textbooks of the Primary education with the views of instructors, students and specialists, to make a case study about the books and to develop a textbook evaluation checklist which can help the specialists in this subject. The population of the study is consists of the mathematics instructors teaching at the Primary schools related to the Ankara province Keçiören (center) and Elmadağ (outside) districts, the 7th grade students attending those schools and specialists in charge at textbook preparing and examining departments of the M.E.B. (Ministry of National Education) Teaching and Training Committee Chairmanship. Sampling group of the study is consists of 28 mathematics teachers from 22 Primary schools, 287 7th grade students from 12 schools and total 7 experts in charge at Teaching and Training Committee Chairmanship, all chosen at random. This study has the descriptive characteristics, and the opinions of the teachers and students is obtained by the two separately prepared questionnaires, and the experts' opinions by the interview method. The reliability coefficint for the student questionnaire is found as alpha = 0.79 and the reliability coefficient for the teacher questionnaire is 0.74.IV As a result of the study; in the direction of the teachers' opinions; it is revealed that there are some deficiencies on the subjects of“physical features”,“content”,“appropriateness to the principles of learning-teaching”, conditions of“general appearance”and“measurement and evaluation”at the top; that the textbooks are adequate in“appropriateness to the mathematics curriculum”and“language and expression features”subjects, but the mathematics curriculum is incapable and should be revised. The students' opinions are similar to the teachers'; it is determined that there are deficiencies in the“textbook usage by the teachers and students”,“appropriateness to learning-teaching principles”and“conditions of measurement and evaluation”. According to the specialists views, however, it was determined that there are deficiencies in the subjects of the textbooks'“appropriateness to the Textbooks Regulations”,“textbooks improvement”,“the usage of the new approaches of the course program in the textbooks”. According to the experts' opinions; the main source of these deficiencies is the mathematics curriculum and they consider that the mathematics curriculum should be revised.
