Özet
ÖZET Öğretim sürecinde kavram haritaları, bilgi ve kavramlar arasındaki ilişkiyi hiyerarşik bir yapı içinde genelden özele doğru görsel hale getirerek öğrenciye somut veriler sunmayı amaçlayan bir öğretim tekniğidir. Kavram haritalarında sunulan yeni bilgilerle öğrencinin ön bilgilerinin bütünleştirilerek anlamlı öğrenmenin gerçekleştirilmesi hedeflenir. Yapılan araştırmanın amacı lise 1 matematik dersine devam eden öğrencilerin fonksiyon konusunda geliştirdikleri kavram haritasının dersteki akademik başarılarına etkisini araştırmaktır. Bu çalışmada betimsel yöntem kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini 2002-2003 öğretim yılında İstanbul ili Özel Şişli Terakki Lisesindeki 9-A sınıfı oluşturmaktadır. Örneklem grubu 1 1 kız, 1 1 erkek olmak üzere toplam 22 kişiden oluşmaktadır. Örneklem grubuna 5 hafta süresince anlamlı öğrenme ile kavram haritası oluşturma yöntemleri öğretilmiştir. Kavram haritası öğretme yolu Novak'tan(1998) esinlenerek uygulanmıştır. Araştırma grubuna Lise-1 müfredatına uygun olarak fonksiyonlar konusu 5 hafta boyunca anlatılmıştır. Fonksiyon konusu bitiminde örneklem grubuna 30 fonksiyon kavramı verilerek kavram haritası oluşturmaları istenmiş ve bir gün sonra gruba fonksiyon testi uygulanmıştır. Öğrencilerin geliştirdikleri kavram haritalarım değerlendirmek için Novak'ın (1984) geliştirdiği kavram haritası değerlendirme formu kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin fonksiyon başarı testinden aldıkları puanlar ile geliştirdikleri kavram haritaları arasında r = 0.70 düzeyinde kuvvetli bir korelasyon olduğu görülmüştür. Kız öğrenciler ile erkek öğrenciler arasında kavram haritaları puanlarının bağımsız t-testi karşılaştırmasında anlamlı bir fark bulunamamıştır. Öğrenciler genel olarak kavram haritalarının konuyu hatırlamada, kavramları organize etmede ve kavramlar arası ilişki kurmada yararlı bulurken oluşturma aşamasının zaman alıcı olduğunu belirtmişlerdir.

ABSTRACT The concept map in education is a teaching technique which aims to presents concrete data to the learner visualising the relationship between knowledge and concepts in a hierarchical structure from general to specific. The aim of the concept maps is to write the learners prior knowledge and new acquired knowledge so that meaningful learning is obtained. The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of the concept maps of 9th grade students on their academic achievement in maths at school. In this discriptive study, the samples were the members of a 9th grade class, consisting of 1 1 female and 1 1 male students at Şişli Terakki Foundation High School in 2002 - 2003 academic year. In the first phase of the study, the samples of the study were tought how to create a concept map using meaningful learning over a period of 5 weeks. During this period, Novak's (1998) concept map teaching method was applied. The samples were touhgt specific mathematical functions over 5 weeks. After the teaching phase ended. The samples were given 30 function concepts and asked to create a concept map. A day later, examination with 20 multiple-choise questions was given to the samples. The Novak's concept map evaluation form(1984) was used to evaluate the maps of the samples. It was found that there was a positively high correlation (r = 0.70) between the scores gained on the multiple choise test and those gained on the concept maps. It was also seen that students were succesful at creating concept maps. Through the use of an independent t-test, it was found that there was not a meaningful difference between the scores of female and male students. As a result, in general, although the samples were able to retain the knowledge, organise the concepts and relate the concepts to each other, the concept mapping method was found to be time consuming.
