finance house practices in turkey and its comparison with classical banking Finance house is a new concept in Turkey. The subject matter of our study is limited to the practices of finance houses in Turkey and the differences of these institutions from classical bankına. Its philosophical zûğ ideological aspects are excluded. Our study consists of five sections. First section deals with general information about banks and their types as veil as the place of finance houses in banking activities, in the second one., the legal structure and functioning mechanisms of banks are discussed briefly while the third section is devoted to those of finance houses. In the fourth one, banks and finance houses are compared in respect to their legal structure and functioning mechanisms. The fifth section discusses the contributions of finance houses to Turkish economy as a whole, especially from eco no mi c sta nd poi nt. Finally shortcomings arising from the practices of finance houses are studied and our proposals towards improving the system are submitted. Although they are not called as bank, intact, finance houses function all of the operations carried out by banks, as well as non- banking ones. Taking this into consideration, we, therefore, suggest that the regulations related to this institution should be restructured in accordance with banking laws. it might be generally concluded that finance houses are successful, which have been permitted to attract the savings not going to banking system and to make it available for the economy's use, and to increase the foreign capital inflow.
