ÖZET Doktora Tezi ÜNİVERSİTE 1. SINIF ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN HÜCRE BÖLÜNMELERİ İLE İLGİLİ TEMEL VE YAN KAVRAMLARI ÖĞRENMELERİNDE HAZIRBULUNUŞLUK DÜZEYLERİNİN ROLÜ Çiğdem EFE Atatürk Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Fen ve Matematik Alanları Biyoloji Eğitimi Ana bilim Dalı Danışman: Prof. Dr. İsmet HASENEKOĞLU Biyoloji kavramsal bir bilimdir. Bu yüzden biyolojideki yanlış kavrama (misconception) oldukça fazla görülmektedir. Hücre bölünmesi ise, temel biyoloji müf redatının en önemli ve en zor öğrenilen konusu olarak bilinir. Bu çalışmada öğrencilerin hücre bölünmesi konusunda sahip olduğu önceki bilgilerinin sonraki öğrenmelerinde etkili olup olmadığı araştırılmıştır. Dört üniversitenin (Atatürk üniversitesi, Selçuk Üniversitesi, Gazi Osman Paşa Üniver sitesi. Mustafa Kemal Üniversitesi) sekiz ayrı fakültesinin birinci sınıf öğrencilerine (toplam 200) 20 soruluk iki sınav türü uygulanmıştır. Birinci soru formu çoktan seçme li, ikincisi ise açıklamalı cevap gerektiren ve hücre bölünmesinin temel ve yan kavram larını sınayan sorulardan oluşmuştur. Bu amaçla düzenlenen anket somları da araştır manın veri tabanını meydana getirmektedir. Sonuçların analizinde Pearson Momentler Çarpımı Korelasyon Katsayısı ve Yüzde kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilere göre ön test ve son test arasında zayıf ancak pozitif yönde bir korelasyonun bulunduğu gözlenmiştir. Elde edilen veriler çerçevesinde bazı öneriler getirilmiştir. 2002, 87 sayfa

ABSTRACT Ph.D.Thesis Tl IE ROLE OF READINESS LEVEL OF UNIVERSITY'S FIRST YEAR STU DENTS IN THE LEARNING OF THE BASIS AND SIDE CONCEPTS OF CELL DIVISIONS Çiğdem EFE Atatürk University Graduate School of Natural Sciences Department of Biology Education Supervisor: Prof. Dr. İsmet HASENEKO?LU Biology is a conceptual science. Because of its conceptual feature, misconceptions appear in higher degree in biology than the other sciences. As a learning subject cell division has long been recognized as one of the most important and difficult component of the basic biology cur riculum. In this study it was aimed to determine effectiveness of student's previous knowledge on the following education about mitosis and meiosis cell divisions. This study was applied first year students (total 200) in eight different faculties of four universi ties (Atatürk University, Selçuk University, Gazi Osman Paşa University, Mustafa Kemal Uni versity). In this study two question systems concerning basis and side concepts in cell division were ap plied. Within the system two forms of questions have been used. The first includes twenty mul tiple choice questions which test the fundamental concepts of cell division and the second con sists of written questions. The questionnaire forms prepared for this purpose were also given to this students. The data obtained from 200 valid forms formed the basis of the study. The results were analysed by using Pearson Correlation Coefficient of Moments and Percentage. After obtaining the data from this investigation, a weak but positive correlation was observed between pre-test and post-test. Some suggestions were made in view of the obtained data. 2002, 87 pages
