öz ÖĞRETMEN NİTELİKLERİNİN LİSE SEVİYESİNDEKİ ÖĞRENCİLERİN FİZİK BAŞARISINA, MOTİVASYONUNA VE TUTUMLARINA ETKİLERİ Korur, Fikret Yüksek Lisans, Ortaöğretim Fen ve Matematik Alanları Eğitimi Bölümü Tez Yöneticisi: Dr. Ali ERYILMAZ Eylül 2001, 138 sayfa Bu çalışmanın amacı öğretmen niteliklerinin öğrencinin fizik başarısına, motivasyonuna ve tutumuna etkilerini araştırmak ve bunların geçmişten gelen değişkenlerle, motivasyon, başarı ve tutum değişkenleri ile ilişkili olup olmadığını araştırmaktır. Bu çalışmada kullanılan anket geri bildirim almak amacıyla öncelikle 50 lise öğrencisine, 6 öğretmene ve 3 yüksek lisans öğrencisine uygulanmıştır. Sonuçta, bu çalışmada, anket yeniden düzenlenmiş ve yeniden dizayn edilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın kapsamında, Türkiye'deki 3 bölgede ve her bölgeden 3 ilde, 9. sınıf seviyesinden 11. sınıf seviyesine kadar toplam 2177 lise öğrencisi bulunmaktadır. Seçilen okulların tümü devlet lisesidir ve anketi uygulayacak olan öğretmenler anket uygulama yönergesi ile bilgilendirilmiştir. Öğrencilerden toplanan veriler optik okuyucu yardımıyla bilgisayara girilmiş ve bu bilgileri değerlendirmek üzere verilerin MANOVA, MRC, faktör analizi, geçerlilik analizi ve bütün betimsel istatisikleri yapılmıştır. Sonuçlar vgöstermektedir ki; öğretmen nitelikleri, öğrencilerin basan, tutum ve motivasyonu üzerinde etkilidir. Ayrıca, fizik öğretmeninin nitelikleri ile bölgenin, öğrencilerin cinsiyetinin, doğum yılının, sınıfının, fizik dersindeki önceki motivasyon, başarı ve tutum değişkenleri arasında anlamlı düzeyde bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Öte yandan, öğrencilerin sosyo-ekonomik statü (SES) değişkeninin fizik öğretmeninin niteliklerini açıklamada tek başına önemli bir katkısı bulunmuştur. Bu çalışma fizik öğretmenlerine, öğretmenin bilgi seviyesi ve kişilik özellikleri gibi ortak niteliklerinin etkili olduğunu bildirmektedir. Ayrıca, araştırmanın sonuçlan öğretmen hazırlama ve hizmet içi eğitim programlarında, öğretmen yetiştiren kurumlarda kullanılabilir ve bundan sonra yapılacak çalışmalara bir kaynak olması beklenmektedir.

ABSTRACT THE EFFECTS OF TEACHERS' CHARACTERISTICS ON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS' PHYSICS ACHIEVEMENT, MOT IVATION AND ATTITUDES Korur, Fikret M.S., Department of Secondary Science and Mathematics Education Supervisor: Dr. Ali ERYTLMAZ September 2001, 138 pages The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of teachers' characteristics on students' physics achievement, motivation and attitude, and to find out whether they show significant relation with certain background and motivation, achievement and attitude variables. The questionnaire that was used in the study were firstly applied to 50 high school students, 6 teachers and 3 MS students to get related feedback. At the end the questionnaire of the study was revised and redesigned for this study. This study was conducted in 3 regions of Turkey and 3 cities for each region including 2177 high school students from ninth to eleventh grade. All schools were chosen from public ones and the teachers who applied the questionnaire were informed by a direction guide The data entered to the computer by optic reader and analyzed for MANOVA, MRC, factor analysis, reliability analysis and all descriptive statistics. Findings suggested that teachers' characteristics were affective in terms of iiistudents' achievement, motivation and attitude. Furthermore, region, students' gender, year of birth, grade level, current motivation, achievement and attitude were important variables correlated with the physics teachers characteristics. On the other hand, there were no contribution of students' socio-economic status (SES) to physics teachers' characteristics affecting students' motivation, achievement and attitude. The results are expected to provide physics teachers with common effective teacher characteristics like knowledge base and personal characteristics. Furthermore the findings obtained might also be used in the pre- and in-service teacher training programs and they would be a source for further researches.
