Özet
ÖZET Bu araştırma, Polis Kolejinde eğitim-öğretime başlayan öğrencilerin ilköğretim diploma notlan, Polis Kolejine Giriş Sınavı puanlan ile Polis Koleji birinci sınıftaki akademik başarıları arasındaki ilişkileri tespit etmeye yöneliktir. Öğrencilerin, ilköğretim diploma notlarının Polis Koleji birinci sınıftaki yıl sonu genel başarı notları ile ilişkisine bakılarak, ilköğretim başarısının Polis Koleji birinci sınıftaki başarıyı yordama gücünün ortaya çıkarılması ve yine, öğrencilerin Polis Koleji Giriş Sınavı alt testlerinden alınan puanların Polis Koleji birinci sınıf programında yer alan derslerin yıl sonu genel başarı notlarıyla ilişkisine bakılarak, giriş sınavındaki başarının Polis Koleji birinci sınıftaki başarıyı yordama gücünün ortaya çıkarılması çalışılmıştır. Araştırma, durum saptamaya yönelik betimsel bir araştırmadır. Araştırma, 1999 yılında yapılan Polis Kolejine Giriş Sınavında başarılı olan 201 öğrenciden, Yabancı Dil Seviye Tespit Sınavında başarılı olup hazırlık sınıfını okumadan doğrudan birinci sınıftan eğitim-öğretime başlayan 158 öğrenci üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Verilerin analizi aşamasında, iki değişken arasındaki doğrusal ilişkinin bir ölçüsü olan Pearson Momentler Çarpımı Korelasyon Katsayısı kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen korelasyon katsayılarının anlamlı olup olmadıkları ise 't' testi ile test edilmiştir. Araştırmada, öğrencilerin ilköğretim diploma notlan ile Polis Koleji birinci sınıftaki derslerine ilişkin başarıları arasında 0.05 düzeyinde manidar bir ilişki (0.54) bulunmuştur.Öğrencilerin Giriş Sınavı puanlan ile Polis Koleji birinci sınıftaki derslerine ilişkin başarıları arasında 0.05 düzeyinde manidar (-0.01) bir ilişki bulunmamıştır. Coğrafya, Matematik, Fizik ve Biyoloji alt test ve ders ilişkileri çok düşük ve negatif ilişki göstermiştir. İlişkinin düşük çıkması, ilköğretim programlarının birbirinden farklı olması, sınavda ölçülen özellikler ile derste kazandırılan davranışların farklı olabileceği, sınavda kullanılan testin istendik özelliklerinin yetersiz oluşu ve Polis Kolejinde öğrencilerin yetiştirilmesinde ve davranışlarının belirlenmesinde yetersiz kalınmasından kaynaklanabilir. İlköğretim başarısının düşük düzeyde de olsa yordayıcı özelliğinin olması, dikkati seçme sınavında kullanılan testlere çekmektedir. Ayrıca, seçme sınavında en yüksek puanı alan öğrencilerin alınıp, diğerlerinin ise alınmamasından dolayı grup daha çok homojendir. Grubun homojen olması ise ilişkinin düşük çıkmasına neden olabilir. Bu araştırma sonucuna göre; ilköğretim diploma notlarının tespit edilecek bir katsayı ile çarpılıp Giriş Sınavı puanına dahil edilmesi, öğrenci seçiminin daha isabetli olmasını sağlayabileceği; 2001-2002 eğitim-öğretim yılından itibaren uygulanmaya başlayan iki aşamalı Polis Koleji Aday Tespit Sınavı ve Polis Kolejine Giriş Sınavları ile ilgili güvenirlik ve geçerlik çalışmalarının yapılabileceği; giriş sınavı sorularının hazırlanmasında ve sınavların uygulanmasında uzman elemanlardan yararlanılabileceği; Yabancı Dil Seviye Tespit Sınavının güvenirlik ve geçerliğinin incelenmesi gerektiği ve Polis Koleji müfredat programı dahilinde yapılan sınavlardan aynı derse giren farklı öğretmenlerin yaptıkları sınavların hepsi o alan dersine giren öğretmenlerden oluşan komisyon tarafından ortak olarak hazırlanan sorularla yapılması gerektiği önerilebilir.

SUMMARY This study aims to determine the relationships among the Police College students' primary education diploma grades, their enterance examination records to the college and their academic success' at the first grade of the college. By examining the relationship between the primary education diploma grades and the GPA's received at the first grade, it is strived to reveal how far the success at primary education can estimate the success at the first grade of the college and again, by examining the relationship between records of the sub tests of the enterance examination of Police College and the grades received from the courses of first grade of the Police College, how far the success at the enterance examination can estimate the success at the first grade of Police College. This study is a descriptive study to determine the situation. The study was carried out on 158 out of 201 successful students of the enterance examination and started first grade directly, by passing the language test and leaving out the preparatory class. Pearson's correlation method was used at the analysis stage of the study,“t”test was used whether the correlation coefficients were significant. The study has revealed that there is a significant relationship with the level of 0.05 between the primary education diploma grades and the success at the Police College first grade courses. There is no significant relationship with the level of 0.05 between the scores taken at the enterance examination and the grades taken from the courses at the firstgrade of Police College. Geography, Mathametics, Physics and Biology sub-test and course relations has shown very low and negative relationship. The reason of this less significant relationship might originate from the following reasons: The primary education programs are different from each other, the characteristic that are measured at the examination and the behaviors gained during the courses might be different, the inadequate characteristics of the test and the inadequacy of the definition of the educational and behavioral concepts of Police College students. Although with its low level, the success at the primary education has characteristics of estimation, the attention is drawn to the tests that are used at the selection examination. In addition, since the procedure of the selection examination which the students with higher scores are selected and the others are not selected, the group is very homogeneous. The homogenity of the group may cause this low level of relationship. According to the result of this study; the following suggestions may be considered: for more appropriate selection, the primary education diploma grades may be added to the enterance examination scores by multiplying with a pre determined coefficient, reliability and validity studies may be developed on the two staged Police College Candidate Examination and Police College Enterance Examination, which initiated at the 2001-2002 educational year, experts can be used during the processes of question preparation and application of the examinations, validity and reliability of Foreign Language Level Determination Examination must be reexamined and the examinations of a particular course must be set up with the contributions of the comission which consists of Police College teachers who lecture the same courses.
