Özet

ÖZET Bu tez Çankaya Üniversitesi Hazırlık Okulu için üst-orta seviyede bir derskitabının örnek ünitelerini oluşturmayı amaçlamaktadır. Örnek üniteler Knockout First Certificate adlı kitaba alternatif oluşturmayı da amaçlamaktadır. Tavsiye edilen kitabın örnek üniteleri genel hatları ile Lifelines SerisVmn düzenini takip etmektedir. Fakat ünite konulan ve gramer içeriği Knockout First Certificate 'tan alınmıştır. Örnek üniteleri oluşturma çalışmasından önce bazı temel ve teorik çalışmalar yapılmıştır. Sorunun tanımlanması ve önemi, alam ve sınırlan ve çözüm hipotezleri bunlardan bazdandır. Literatür taraması da önemli bir konu olarak ele alınmıştır. Daha sonra, araştırma modeli tanımlanmıştır. Çalışma grubu, veri ve veri toplama metodu, verinin incelenmesi ve analizi açıklanmıştır. Bu evreden sonra, öğrencilerin ihtiyaçlarını karşılayan bir derskitabı oluşturma amacına ulaşmak için içerik oluşturma yolunda üç değişik anket hazırlanmış ve değişik cevaplayıcı gruplarına verilmiştir. Anketlere verilen cevaplar değerlendirilmiş ve bu anketlerden elde edilen veriler tavsiye edilen derskitabının örnek ünitelerinin oluşturulmasında kullanılmıştır. En sonunda, müfredat üzerinde çalışılmış ve örnek üniteler bu bilgiler ışığında oluşturulmuştur. Bu basamaklardan sonra öğrencilerin ihtiyacım karşılayan örnek ünitelerin düzeni oluşturulmuştur. Üst-orta seviyedeki kitabın örnek ünitelerini oluşturduktan sonra sonuç ve öneriler kısmı sunulmuştur. Bu kısımda çalışmanın genel değerlendirmesi ve buna benzer bir çalışma yapacak araştırmacılara tavsiyeler verilmektedir. Toparlamak gerekirse, bu çalışmada Çankaya Üniversitesi Hazırlık Okulu için Knockout First Certificated alternatif olacak tavsiye edilen üst-orta seviyede bir derskitabının örnek ünitelerini sunulmaktadır. Fakat, tüm bunlara ek olarak müfredat oluşturma ve derskitabı yazımı ile ilgili bilgilere de odaklanılmaktadır. Kısacası, bu konuların, öğrencileri için derskitabı yazmayı düşünen Türk dil öğretmenleri için yararlı olduğu düşünülmektedir.

Ill ABSTRACT This thesis aims to prepare the sample units of an upper-intermediate level coursebook for Çankaya University Preparatory School. The sample units are supposed to form a coursebook which will be alternative to Knockout First Certificate as well. The units of the suggested coursebook follow the general line of the of Lifelines Series as fer as the ongoing of the units are concerned. But the topical and grammatical content are taken from Knockout First Certificate. Before the study to form the sample units, some basic and theoretical study is done. Definition and importance of the problem, its scope, limitations and solution hypothesis are some of these. Review of literature is also touched upon as an important issue. Later, research model is defined. Study group, data and data collection method and assessment and analysis of data are explained. After this phase, in the way of forming the content, to reach the aim of producing a coursebook that meets the needs of the learners, three different questionnaires are prepared and given to different groups of subjects. The answers given to these questionnaires are evaluated. The data gained form them is used in the formation of the sample units of the suggested coursebook. At the end, syllabus is worked on, and sample units are formed in the light of all these information. The design of the sample units that meet the needs of the learners is formed after this procedure. After the formation of the sample units of the upper-intermediate level coursebook, conclusion and suggestion part is presented. In this part, general evaluation of the study and suggestion to the other researchers, who want to carry out such a study, are made. To sum up, this study presents sample units of a suggested upper-intermediate level coursebook for Çankaya University Preparatory School: An alternative to Knockout First Certificate. But in addition to these all, information about syllabus design and coursebook writing is focused on. In brief, these issues are thought to be useful for Turkish language teachers who want write cousebooks for their learners.
