Özet

ÖZET öğretmenin teknoloji korkusu ve teknoloji korkusu azaltma programının etkisi üzerine pilot çalışma Bu çalışmanın birinci amacı teknoloji korkusunu açıklayan değişkenleri incelemeye yönelikti ve ikinci amaç ise teknoloji korkusunu azaltmaya yönelik bir programın etkinliğini araştırmayı içeriyordu. Araştırmanın örneklemini özel bir okuldaki çeşitli bölümlerden 191 öğretmen oluşturdu. Teknoloji korkusu (CARS), teknolojiye karşı düşünce (CTS) ve teknolojiye karşı tutum (GATCS) seviyelerini incelemek için Rosen ve Weil' in (1997) anketlerinin Türkçe çevirileri kullanıldı. Katılımcıların teknoloji kullanımları ve bilgisayar bilgi seviyeleri de Bilgisayar Kullanım Ölçeği (CUS) and Bilgisayar Bilgi Ölçeği (CKS) yardımıyla ölçüldü. Ölçeklerin psikometrik özellikleri geçerlik ve güvenilirlik değerlerini destekler nitelikteydi. Dokuz öğretmen teknoloji korkusu azaltma programı için gönüllü oldu. Teknoloji korkusunu azaltmaya yönelik programdan sonra, katılımcıların korku seviyesinde anlamlı düzeyde azalma ve teknoloji kullanımında anlamlı düzeyde artış gözlendi; ancak program katılımcıların bilgi seviyelerinde anlamlı bir farklığa yol açmadı. Yaş, teknoloji kullanımı, bilgisayar bilgisi, öğretmenlik tecrübesi ve bilgisayar sahibi olmanın teknoloji korkusunu açıklayan değişkenler olduğu görüldü; ancak branş ve cinsiyetin teknoloji korkusunu anlamlı düzeyde açıklamadığı gözlendi.

IV ABSTRACT TEACHER TECHNOPHOBIA AND A PILOT STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF TECHNOPHOBIA REDUCTION PROGRAM The primary goal of this study was to examine the predictors of technophobia and secondary goal was to investigate the effectiveness of a technophobia reduction program. The sample of the study consisted of 191 teachers from various departments of a private secondary school. The study made use of the Turkish translation of Rosen and Weil's (1997) questionnaires in order to assess the level of anxiety about technology (CARS), thought towards technology (CTS) and attitudes towards technology (GATCS). The participants' technology usage and computer literacy level were also measured through the use of Computer Use Scale (CUS) and Computers Knowledge Scale (CKS). Analyses concerning psychometric characteristics provided sufficient evidence for the reliability and validity of the questionnaires. Nine teachers volunteered for the technophobia reduction program. The technophobia reduction program was observed to result in significant decreases in the participants' anxiety level and increases in their technology usage. However, the program was not observed to result in significant changes in the computer literacy level of the participants. Age, technology usage, computer literacy, teaching experience and computer ownership were determined as predictors of technophobia, whereas field of work and gender were not observed to be significant predictors of technophobia.
