86 I. SUMMARY In this study, the antitumoral activities of 27 substances namely; dacarbazine, cyclophosphamide, iphosphamide, methotrexate, gemictabine, cytarabine, vincristine, vinorelbine, vinblastine, mitoxantrone, daunorubicin, bleomycin, mitomycin C, cisplatin, carboplatin, which are commonly used antineoplastic agents, newly synthesised compounds, derived from 1-[ Alkil ( veya aril ) tiyo ]-1 -fenil-2- nitroetan, extraction from the flower of Centaurea solstitialis ssp. Solstitialis (Fam: Rosaseae), extraction of the leaves of Centaurea solstitialis ssp. Solstitialis (Fam: Rosaseae), extraction of the roots of Rubus hirtus (Fam : Asteraceae) through methanol, extraction of the roots of Rubus discolor ( Fam : Asteraceae ), antifungal agents namely flukonazol, terbinafyne agents were investigated by using the Rec Assay and Bacteriophage Induction. The aim of the study was to compare the sensitivity, reliability and economic criteria of these methods. The maximum activity in Rec Assay was detected in cisplatin at 250 ug/ml at the applied doses. Statistically significant differences were not found between the activity volues of the substances( p>0.05 ). The maximum activity in Bacteriophage Induction Test was seen in mitomycin C at 0.039 pg/ml at the applied doses. In the Rec Assay test, while an activity was observed at 250 ug/ml in applied doses in cyclophosphamide and iphosphamide, in the87 Bacteriophage Induction tests no activity was observed. It was seen that it would not be appropirate to make a final assessment for the substances in which no activity was observed through the use of Rec Assay and Bacteriophage Induction tests, however it was noticed that Rec Assay and Bacteriophage Induction tests could be used for determination of the effective doses for the substances whose effective mechanism is known. More reliable, sensitive, economic and standardized in-vitro biological methods shold be developed for the detection of antitumoral activities of various agents.
