ABSTRACT Nowadays, the environment problems which have grown up in a gradual increasing way have started to pass beyond the countries' boundaries, and this has also gained speed to the works which are done to protect the nature. Besides this, these works couldn't have come to a sufficent level, yet. That's why necessity of concentrating on and becomingcomplete both the countries and the international companies about this subject related with their works is much more then every time. The concept“National Park”defined as open spaces wich have got naturel and cultural source values existing varely in nations and internations at the view of scientific and aesthetic points has been put forware first in the USA in the world-Connected to this, Yellowstone was declared as national park in 1872. The practice which began with declaring of the“Yozgat Çamlığı Milli Parkı”and the“Karatepe - Aslantaş Tarihi Milli Parkı”as national parks for thefirst time in our country in 1958 by the Forest General Maneger, covers a 650.025 hectare space wich park numbers has reached to 32 today. Only the open spaces which were in the regime of the forest were declared as national parks from 1958 until 1983. These numbers were 17. This Number has reached to 32 declaring the open spaces which aren't in the forest regime as national park by the 2873 numbered“National Park Laws”which was promulgated inl983. At this study the national parks in our country which have been explored in four groups according to their features are such as: National parks which have geological and geomorphologic values. National parks from the view point of flora and fauna. National parks which are valuable at the view point of their hydrographic features. And national parks which have historical worths in it. The national parks' definition, importance and its historical growness are examined at the. first section of the exploration. Thefeatures of the national parks in our country are exclaimed at the second section, and the national parks in Turkey are handled at the third section. The importance of Keeping the nature is exclaimed at the fourth section. The nature is exclaimed at the fourth section. The problems and thir solution offers of the national parks are handled at the last section the works has been also tried to be enriched as visual with the help of the maps, photos and charts. The most important point we expect from our national parks - that is the general aim of the study - is to serve the humanity by making a gift of the harmonic landscape samplesformed of beautiful spaces which are valuable archaeological works which keep their entirety in the marvelous east view, and with its vegetation and fauna as a whole not only to the country but also to the worl culture. 20.03.2001, İstanbul Yunus ÇİFTÇİ
