In this study, it is investigated whether there is a significant difference between the self confidence level of the students who participate in scouting activities and of those who do not, the Tactors that may have influence on the improvement of self confidence were studied. The study is constructed on a correlative survey basis. The population of the study is composed of the students between the ages of 9-18, and attending elemantary and high schools in Mersin. 363 scout, 465 non-scout students selected randomly from the schools which have scouting units, constitutes the sample. A questionnaire is used for data collection which consist of Tiers Harris Self Concept Scale“ for determining self confidence level and ”Personal Information Form“ for collecting personal information,. Statistical analysis of the data collected was performed by using such techniques in SPSS; independent groups T-Test, non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis Test, oneway ANOVA. Findings are as follows : As the result of the T-test that was done to determine whether the level of confidence differentiates between scouts and non-scouts, a statistically significant (p<0.001) difference which is in favor of scouts, was found.Taking the ”sex“ variable into consideration, a statistically significant difference in the self confidence scores between the groups was found in favor of boys (p<0.05). Taking the percieved academic achievment variable into consideration, a statistically significant difference in the self confidence scores between the groups was found in favor of ”A grade“ (p<0.001). Taking the status variable into consideration, a statistically significant difference in the self confidence scores between the groups was found in favor of the scout master (p<0.05). Taking the age variable into consideration, a statistically significant difference in the self confidence scores between the groups was found in favor of ”9-11“ aged group and ”12-13 aged group" (p<0.01). As a conclusion, the level of self confidence differentiates between the students participating in scouting activities and those who do not. V
