Özet
ÖZET Biyoloji eğitimi esnasında orta öğretim öğrencilerinin karşılaştıkları öğrenme güçlükleri ve bunların sebeplerinin araştırılması bu çalışmanın esas amacı olup, farklı sosyal kesimlerden öğrenci alan Erzurum ili merkezi Atatürk Lisesi pilot okul olarak seçilmiştir. Öğrencilere uygulanan toplam 21 soruluk anketten elde edilen sonuçlar %2 uyum testi yardımıyla analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, öğrencilerin aldıkları biyoloji eğitimi ile günlük hayatları arasında yakın ilişkiler kurabildikleri, ancak öğrencilerin bir kısım biyoloji konularında öğrenme güçlüğü ile karşılaştıkları tespit edilmiştir. Biyoloji derslerinde soru-cevap, ders kitaplarından konu anlatımı yaygın olarak kullanılan metotlar olup, öğrencilerin laboratuar olanaklarından yeterince yararlanmadıkları gözlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin çoğunluğunun ders kitaplarını yeterli bulmadıkları tespit edilmiş olup, ders kitaplarında enzim aktiviteleri, fotosentez, biyoenerji, böbreklerden artık ürünlerin atılımı gibi bir kısım konuların öğrencilerde kavram yanılgılarına neden olabilecekleri sonucuna varılmıştır. Ayrıca öğrencilerde bitki polenlerinin ve sucul bitkilerin özellikleri, solunumun temel özellikleri gibi konularda kavram yanılgıları tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, biyoloji derslerinde uygulama çalışmalarına yeterli zamanın ayrılmaması, ders kitapları ve öğretmenlerden kaynaklandığı düşünülen kavram yanılgılarının öğrencilerde yaygın olarak görülmesi biyoloji eğitiminin önemli sorunlarından biri olarak görülmektedir. Bu nedenle biyoloji ders kitaplarının bu araştırmada elde edilen bulgular göz önüne alınarak gözden geçirilmesi, biyoloji derslerinde uygulama çalışmalarını özendirici tedbirlerin alınması ve öğretmenlerin öğrencilerde karşılaşılması muhtemel kavram yanılgılarına karşı bilinçlendirilmeleri gerektiği sonucuna varılmıştır.

11 SUMMARY The main purpose of this study was to investigate the learning difficulties and their reasons during biology education in high schools. For this aim, Atatürk High School was chosen as a pilot school in which most of students comes from different levels of social classes. The data obtained questionarre which included totally 21 questions was analyzed by %2 application test. According to obtained findings, most of students were able to establish a connection between their biology education and daily life. But, it has been detected that some students have difficulties in learning biology. The question- answer and the following student textbook were general methods of biology education in the classroom. It has also been noticed that students were unable to have a chance to take advantage of laboratory facilities. Most of students were not satisfied with student textbooks. It has been also been detected that some subjects of textbooks such as enzyme activities, photosynthesis, bioenergy, filtration of blood and throwing away the waste product by kidneys may lead to misconceptions among the students. It has also been observed that some students have misconceptions about the property of plant pollens, water plants and basic mechanism of respiration. As a result, it seems that some of main problem of biology education was the shortage of laboratory work and misconceptions that may be sprayed among to students by textbooks and teachers during biology education. For this reason, in the light of this research findings, it has been suggested that it may be necessary to review the textbooks of biology education and laboratory works could be made more attractive for students during biology education. It has also been suggested that the biology teachers should be aware of students misconceptions that widely spread to students during biology education in high schools.
