ABSTRACT This study is concerned with the explicitating finite forms in terms of tense, aspect and modality functions from the 1 9th century Turkish texts with Armenian scripts. This study is mainly two parts: one of them is a detailed introduction about the literature with Armenian scripts and the relationship with Turkish - Armenian literature.The second part is the main issue of this study, that is the brief and historic information of the finite forms at Old Turkish, Old Anatolian Turkish, Ottoman Turkish and detailed information at the light data choosen from especially Turkish with Armenian scripts and modern Turkish. The starting point of the study was data analysis. The data were selected from 1 9th century Turkish verse and especially prose. The different use of the present tense, progressive, past tense and future morpheme are examined sentences that are chosen from a novel namely Akabi Story, a theatre text (Ma'şukını Kati Idemeyen Kız), an epic (Dasitanı Istanbul), a Meddah Story, anecdotes from Nasreddin Hodja, a text that includes stories from Christian saints'life (ömr-i Evliya) and a sample from an Armenian scripts newspaper (Hudavendigar). While studies on folk lireature increase on this field, there are restricted studies on language and linguistics. That's why this study focuses Von finite forms that are an important issue at linguistic field. This study is a semantic approach various tense, aspect and modality functions of the present, past, progressive and future tense morphemes. VI
