This study examines the historical development of geometric elements in ceramic art and their contemporary applications, demonstrating through original practical works how geometric forms can function as a ceramic language of expression within a specific thematic framework. The theoretical section of the research addresses geometric arrangements in ceramic art in chronological order, from the Neolithic Period to the present day. The aesthetic and symbolic functions of geometric forms across different cultures are comparatively evaluated through an examination of Mesopotamian and Anatolian Chalcolithic pottery, the Greek Protogeometric and Geometric styles, medieval Islamic and Seljuk ceramics, Nasca culture works, Native American Pueblo ceramics, and the Ming and Edo period porcelains of the Far East. This examination reveals that geometry in ceramic art has served not merely as a decorative element, but also as a reflection of cultural identity, belief systems, and social structure. The second theoretical axis of the study focuses on contemporary ceramic artists. The study examines the works of artists who employ geometric arrangements on traditional ceramic form surfaces—such as Alev Ebüzziya Siesbye and Peter Pincus—those who incorporate geometric elements into sculptural forms—including İsmet Yüksel, Pınar Baklan, and Harumi Nakashima—and those who adopt geometric form as the sculptural form itself—among them Hasan Şahbaz, John Mason, Kishi Eiko, Matthew Chambers, and Ettore Sottsass. These analyses demonstrate with concrete examples that geometry can become a formal and conceptual means of expression in contemporary ceramics. In the practical section of the thesis, eleven ceramic panels and eight three-dimensional ceramic sculptures were produced within the thematic framework of music. Porcelain paper clay was used as the primary material for the ceramic panels; thin geometric slabs colored with black, red, yellow, and blue pigments were enriched through techniques such as silkscreen printing, cylinder seal printing, and brush decoration, then arranged on stoneware and porcelain grounds. The sculptures, designed in the forms of triangular pyramids, square pyramids, cones, and hexagonal pyramids, were produced using both a three-dimensional ceramic printer and hand-building methods, with surfaces completed through geometrically shaped glaze applications. The simultaneous use of these two production methods deliberately emphasizes the contrast between industrial precision and the human touch inherent in hand craftsmanship. Considering the research as a whole, it is observed that the historical and cultural contexts of geometric forms used in ceramic art have been documented, the ways in which contemporary artists interpret this heritage have been analyzed, and it has been demonstrated through original practical works that geometric elements can be transformed into a narrative language on ceramic surfaces within a defined thematic framework.
